The Lochranza Golf Course was developed within the existing landscape in much the same way as the original Scottish seaside courses were created more than 100 years ago but with the benefit of hindsight and a fertile imagination. The golf course is surrounded on three sides by steep mountain slopes, with the fourth opening to the Kilbrannen Sound.

Lochranza is a haven for wildlife and epic landscapes. The holes are long to make the most of the surroundings. Mature trees and water hazards are the key features to this interesting layout with doglegs left and right, long and short carries.
The particularly innovative feature of the golf course is the total difference between the first and second nines. Shared greens are approached from widely varying tees, making the shaped fairway landing areas and shot making of the back nine different from the front nine.

The par-70 golf course measures 5,574 yards.
