Challenging on the legs
Course is short with little need to pull out the driver. A few blind shots where you need to trust your yardage on club selected.
Uphill start for first 4 holes then levels off. Greens are small but reasonable condition.
We played at 8.30am and only saw one other group on the course.
A must!!
Always play this course at least once during our annual weekly stay on Arran. The course is challenging and interesting. The views are amazing!
Stunning scenery. Friendly staff. Would recommend getting a buggy. Course is very steep in places
Blowing a gale
Course in very good condition. Pace of play a little slow but was able to enjoy the unseasonably warm November conditions. Always a good test of golf. Recommended.
Excellent.
tQuirky. Quiet. Hilly. Challenging in places. Need To be able to shape shots to play to best advantage. Several blind holes. Greens in very good condition. .
Hidden gem in Arran
A great course with quirky and challenging par 3s.
Unfortunately the clubhouse was closed for food/beverages due to staff shortage due to Covid.
Breath taking
We were greeted by warm friendly reception staff . The course was in a lovely condition, the views over the bay were fantastic, hidden gems through the 18 holes which is my kind of course the greens were quite small so you had to be accurate. Overall quite a hilly course which we accomplished walking around with carry bags no bother on a relatively warm day, plenty of buggies available if that is your choice. We enjoyed a nice cool beer after this at the clubhouse where we were greeted by warm and friendly members & staff.
This is a nice course, laid out on the side of a hill. No bunkers but still plenty to challenge. The course was in excellent condition and we were warmly welcomed on arrival
Hidden gem
A hilly course but in excellent condition with some tricky holes. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Some fantastic views across the bay and well worth a visit.
Quirky and you've got to be fit!
One of three 18 hole courses on Arran which, despite many visits to the island, we'd never played. The course is carved out of the hillside and is a challenging walk, with holes 1 and 16 being about a 1:4 slope! The greens are miniscule and very hard to stop the ball on, so bump and run is often the name of the game. Because of the extreme slopes you need to pick your lines with care. Lots of bracken can mean lots of lost balls if you lack accuracy. However, the views are stunning and are compensation for playing the mountain goat. At £25 this is pretty good value and the staff are welcoming but don't expect a drink if your round finishes after 4 pm. Definitely a course worth visiting for the experience and views.
Golf With Scenery to Die For
4 of us took to this golf course for the first time. One experienced golfer and 3 beginners. All of us enjoyed it in our own way. Course was not busy and we only had to let two games play through. No bunkers is a plus for beginners but make sure you have plenty of golf balls in your bag. Lots of bushes and burns and blind holes. The views are spectacular and worth the climb. Would certainly recommend and can't wait to play it again.
Great condition, brilliant views
Loved my round at whiting bay. The staff and locals were most welcoming and the course was presented in fabulous condition. The views countered the hilly start and I was glad I played
Tough climb
Short in length. Beautiful views
Tough uphill beginning, not for the elderly golfer!
Greens slowish.
Interesting holes .Long par threes
Best played in summer
