Wigtownshire County Golf Club
About
Wigtownshire County Golf Club, an 18-hole, true links course situated on the shores of Luce Bay, is one of the most popular holiday golf courses in southwest Scotland.
The excellent condition of the Wigtownshire County course, combined with subtly sloping greens and changing sea breezes, provide a test of golf for both high and low handicappers. The area enjoys a temperate climate, making golf possible all year long.
There are three short holes, and one par-5, the 528-yard sixth hole.
The Wigtownshire County course was officially opened in 1894, and the second nine holes opened in May of 1987.

First class as normal.
Made very welcome by Jimmy, very accommodating, course was excellent despite all the recent wet weather greens very good for the time of year November, great views never get tired of them, if you are in the area you should play it.
Super round despite the weather.
Warm and welcoming club that goes out of its way to accommodate visitors. The course in challenging and interesting in equal measure with some stunning views. Course is very well maintained far better than some we visited. Being a links course the weather can play a big part but even though our round was in gale like conditions it was no less enjoyable. The mound is an especially interesting hole and the pair 5
6th hole was a mighty challange. A great afternoon out for us and I recommend this friendly club to anyone.
Non-testing links
Although the course is links type it does not have the wow factor of say Southerness. Fairways wide and not particularly testing. Greens difficult to read.
A lovely day out.
Very nice Scottish course with easy walking. Testing for all standards of golfer. Very friendly staff and nice views of the coastline. Well worth a visit and good value for money.
Lovely Links
Once again the course was very enjoyable, except for the The Mound, which never seem to play well. Greens were great for time of year and pace of play perfect.
Great course
Really friendly greeting by Jimmy
Great golf course. Good location and scenery. Challenging holes
Direction around course and tee information good
Weather was great.
Well worth playing
Pretty little course
Played here for the first time after having driven past it many times on the way to Portpatrick always thinking it looked flat and dull. What a surprise. A real treat. Unfortunately, there were two four balls ahead of us that looked to me to be visitors who either hadn't played much golf before and also had no understanding of the etiquette of letting players through. This is no reflection on the club but on the levels of ignorance by some society golfers. The course was great. The weather was very kind to us and I'm sure this course could be a real test in windy conditions. The greens were the best of the three courses we'd played on this week but a touch slow to be fair. Sadly we didn't get to play the whole course as we had to miss some out due to the ridiculous waiting of the aforementioned four balls, but will definitely be back to play it again. Great views also from many areas of the course.
Great golf
Great course, greens and tees were in brilliant condition , staff very friendly and welcoming , would recommend this course to anyone . 5*****
County fair
Great course and excellent value for money.
Arrived and was greeted by the friendly starter who guided me to the 1st Tee.
Super course with a few tricky OB's waiting for the unwary or grip it n rip it golfer.
More a positional course to keep your score going.
Lovely course with some great views enroute.
Give it a go.

Great course, great value
What a gem in the "rough". We thoroughly enjoyed playing here, and the people were extremely friendly.
I have played quite a few courses in Dumfries and Galloway and this was my first links course. Our round started in good weather and we were adapting our game to suit the course. That was until the wind and rain started and the course became very difficult to play. A great challenge.
Great course in a great setting
A great course in a great setting with some fantastic looking holes. A pretty flat track where the greens are the real defence to this course, small and lots of contours. The greens however were a few weeks behind and a little bobbly which was a shame, but will be amazing through the summer. Very friendly staff and members and made to feel very welcome - will definitely be back to play this again - highly recommended!
Great Course. Great Value.
I play this course a couple of times a year when I'm holidaying in the area. I always find the course to be in fantastic condition (winter and summer). It plays many different ways depending on the weather, but on a nice day it's a glorious place to be. There's only one par 5 and one long par 4 so I wouldn't class it as a long course, but all the holes are a really good test. It's a pretty easy walking course, with some lovely views to be had over Luce Bay. The staff and members are all very friendly, and the food and drinks on offer in the clubhouse are always well received. It has a good practice area and a very good practice putting green. Can't wait to get back out there!!
Set in a beautiful spot
Friendly people, interesting course, lovely environment.
