Golf has been played on the Gowf Field of Loudon at the the Loudon Gowf Club since the 16th century, when it was the private course for the Loudon Castle's Campbell family; as for the Gowf thing, that's not a typo but the old Scottish word for golf. Many believe that in the more than 400 years the golf course has been gowfed upon it has never been plowed. Many credit this fact with being the reason why Loudoun's golf course is often ranked among the best of the Scottish inland gowf courses.
The golf course at the Loudoun Gowf Club measures 6,005 yards and features a par of 68 with a standard scratch score of 69; "ladies" have the option of golfing 5,193 yards with a par of 71 and a standard scratch score of 70.
Visitors are welcome at the Loudoun Gowf Club during the week, but they must prebook via telephone, e-mail or fax and have to dress properly: no trainers (sneakers), jeans, tracksuits or soccer colors.

This is a superb course
Friendly welcome from the person at the clubhouse, nice flat tree lined fairways, a delightful round of golf.

A great tree lined course presented in excellent condition. Not too long but still challenging and enjoyable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.
Golf day
Loudon Gowf course was in very good condition for the time of year and the staff were very helpful and courteous and the food was reasonably priced and very good, all round very enjoyable day out

In great condition and has improved with new flags signage etc Greens excellent and fairways in good condition
London bucket list
Pass this course regularly and always wanted to play it.Finally got to play it.
Were greeted by a really friendly member of staff and given all the information we required to play the course.
We were then joined by a local member who helped us navigate our way round.
All and all a great days golf we will return in the near future.

This course is short and flat
Course was in very good condition despite the weather we have had. A short course but with water hazards on a lot of holes, also all the greens were on
A really enjoyable course
I really enjoyed this course, the greens are really well maintained and very fast!
When you add the well maintained course to the lovely weather we had, it all added up to a really enjoyable day.
If I had to say anything negative, my only disappointment was that the clubhouse wasn't open for our 9.32 teeoff, so I couldn't get my roll and sausage that I love:-)
Super course
Great parkland course in excellent condition, friendly staff. Some great holes, straight driving required and accurate approaches to tight greens. Very enjoyable.
Course
Arrived looking forward to playing. But due to winter rules were unable to play off the fairway had to use mats or play from rough. Had this been advised before booking. Would have went elsewhere
Winter golf on great course
Very well kept course great condition for winter made very welcome by all staff and other golfers i met , superb layout to test all abilities ,i will return and i recomend this course to all.
Great day of golf
Once again another fabulous day of golf on what can only be said, a fantastic course and would defy anyone playing on a better course in Ayrshire. From tee to green the course looks and plays amazingly good. Thanks once again Loudon Gowf Club....

Loudon gowf club a wee gem
We visited this course for the first time recently and were very happy with what we found,it's a gem,great condition friendly members and staff pity it has no pro shop though but overall we loved it will definitely be back
