Glasgow Gailes
Fantastic course and even though fairway protection in place this never hampered the round. Club contacted prior to round to bring forward times and very accommodating on the day.
Sunday afternoon
After a day of heavy rain the day before I was a bit concerned about the condition the course would be in. Don't worry, it could be raining for a week and this place would cope. Fairways bone dry, green firm and true, all round the course was in excellent condition.
Friendly staff and top class facilities.
An old gem!
A great links course, steeped in tradition. Interesting throughout, with great variety of holes. Chuck in the wind and rain, and you'll get a great links experience!
One of the best
A great golf course, every hole is different and challenging
1st Class Course
One of the best links course's in Ayrshire and in super condition. Great practice area next to clubhouse to warm up on which you will need. Some really tough holes mixed in with some birdie chances. Whatever you do try to stay out of the gorse unless you have arms like Popeye. Great challenge as you would expect of such a renowned course. Pro was also very welcoming. Would join this club in a shot
Glasgow Gailes in a gale
If you love links golf and clubs with a history - then this is the place for you. A real treat even though we played for the most part in high winds and rain. This has to be one of the fairest links courses in Scotland, if you hit it straight - the ball will bounce straight too, and no blind shots - it's all out there right in front of you. Take an extra 20 mins to take the "pro's tour" too, he'll show you all around the club and just drink in the history. Could not be a friendlier staff at any golf club anywhere !
Challenging and pricey
A first for me and the second time playing a real links. Challenging for my level, nice and tricky putting green and few bunkers at the right place to take care about . The environment is poor with the train track near some holes. But a very good experience. Staff very friendly and course condition really good. Just a bit pricey !
A must play on the Ayrshire Coast
Played Gailes in the winter and was excellent , game back four weeks latter and it was stunning! Immaculate greens tees and fairways, for this challenging championship course. Great layout with superb holes,. In the clubhouse the most friendliest pro, caddie master, and catering staff you will ever meet, they couldn't do enough for us. Superb and the best out of the three local courses for sure. Visit soon you won't be disappointed !
Club selection is easy enough for all golfers as each "sprinkler"head is distant marked
At this time of year my three friends and myself found the course to be in remarkable condition even after a "fierce" storm the previous day. We all noticed how the green staff were working and yet did not encroach on the golf being played. The day could not have gone better and if the discount deal comes up again I am sure we and other friends will return
Great course
Course was in outstanding condition and very enjoyable to play.
Clubhouse food was good with great service.
Glasgow Gailes is a superb traditional challenging Scottish links course. The clubhouse is steeped in the history of the game, with great atmosphere.
The club professional gave us a great welcome and introduced us to the club facilities, which were totally available for our use. The atmoshere was warm, friendly and welcoming. The layout of the course itself seemed uncomplicated, until you allow your ball to wander into the rough, which progresses from fescue to heather, then gorse. Wind makes play very challenging. The greens were slick but fair. The course plays long, and most par 4 holes required a long drive to reach the green in two even from regular (yellow) tees - the championship tees are only for the brave and expert golfer. Overall - highly recommended!
