A wee Gem

First time ive played Irvine, its been on the list but never quite made it past the Gailes courses. Its every bit as good as Glasgow Gailes if not better, Western Gailes has better facilities and the course is a wee bit more polished but take nothing away from Irvine Bogside, its a very good course, nice staff good facilities and a fraction of the price of say both Gailes courses, Old Prestwick, Prestwick St Nick. Much better value for money.

Another worthy Ayrshire links

The west coast of Scotland is blessed with so many quality links in such a compact area that a fine course like Irvine (Bogside) sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. I was thoroughly enjoying my round before I ran into a massive backup during an outing for junior golfers and only was able to play about 13 holes. The par 4s are all dynamite, each with unique features: a greenside with an incredible dropoff, an elevated green perched next to the stone wall protecting the railway, a drivable par 4 up a severe ridge and a sunken green that's a blind shot. It's all so creative. You just don't see these kinds of quirky holes built on modern courses anymore.

Very good course

Very good course, greens were in excellent conditions. A great welcome from Jim, showing the facilities in the clubhouse and on the course. A number of blind shots, but markers are well placed. Some excellent quirky holes.

3rd time and will be back more

A friend who has just gotten in to golf asked me about good courses close to Glasgow and Bogside came to mind straight away.

Great welcome in the pro shop and clubhouse and the course was in fantastic condition. Given a lot of more expensive courses are having issues with greens and tee boxes Irvine GC was flawless. Quick greens and firm fairways. I can’t recommend it high enough. One of our group is going back next week with other friends.

Quirky & Stuck in the 1900s

Greens in great condition for early May!
Too many blind shots.
Back 9 better than front 9
Clubhouse was like stepping back in time, very old fashioned & no atmosphere, albeit the staff were welcoming.
