Edinburgh's Braid Hills Golf Course offers a city heathland golf course worth a visit, as, though the hills punish legs, the course provides a refreshing experience rather than a draining one. For most of the round, golfers will find themselves not noticing the steep terrain.

The Braid Hills Golf Course features such beautiful scenery that many golfers say a round passes too quickly, with walks between shots feeling shortened by players immersed in the views.

As the Braid Hills Golf Course is municipal, the settings are more spartan than many of the resort courses in the neighborhood: The best 19th hole option is the nearby Braid Hills Hotel.

The best course in the world

This is the greatest and best golf course in the world. The playing surface is immaculate. Every hole is different, adrenalin filled and picturesque. The view from the 18th green is arguably the best view of the great city of Edinburgh. When you nail your drive over the mound of gorse and reach the secret fairway, there is no better feeling. Just one example of the many thrills on offer on this rollercoaster of a course that all others should aspire to be like but will never achieve its greatness. I have been to Trump Turnberry. Unplayable. Save your money, come here instead. Tincup out. Five stars. GGTTH

One of the best in Edinburgh

this is a really fun course, especially on a sunny/calm day like today ( I could imagine it being a lot more difficult on a windy day as you’re quite exposed on many holes). Great views. It’s one of my favourites now in Edinburgh. You need your pitching game to be working

Played a 4 ball today, and everyone of us came away delighted with the course and how it plays, not to mention the views of this great city Edinburgh. :)

Auld Reekie Links Experience

What a pleasurable round of golf. The staff and members were very friendly and very helpful. The course is in fabulous condition. The layout is brilliant and good course management is definitely called for if you are to shoot a good score. The views of Edinburgh are amazing and definitely add to a great golfing experience. The view off the 18th is to die for. Excellent golfing experience and will be returning for some more.

Shocking for the money!

This is an Edinburgh Council course.
Do not waste your money!
Greens and Tees in awful state. Greens only get watered when it rains. Very poor. Tee areas are in desperate need of repair. Course in general is littered with divots and any decent area has been cut up.
It was a Friday we played and there was no one on the course! Is that because of the poor state or is it because the price is shocking!?
£21.50 each (after booking fee) still cheaper than if you book direct by phone...£25!!!
To anyone visiting Edinburgh, do not waste money on this course...there are dozens better and cheaper!

Cheaper than 21 GBP for 18 holes?

Challenging course

The views across Edinburgh from this course are fantastic. The course is quite tricky with lots of thick gorse, a number of tight fairways, and quite a few blind tee shots. The wind whips up on the hill which also contributes. The greens are ok but some are dry with brown patches.
There are a lot of steep climbs so hard on the legs. This makes the 18th even harder as the green is on a much higher elevation than the tee. It's called the "graves" for good reason as your ball rolls back into various hollows.
Overall it's a tough course but good value at £20 a round.

The first time the three of us played The Braids, great day, we all scored in the 90's. testing and most scenic course.

Can't wait to play this fabulous golf course again. We all aim to hit in the 80's next time. Good value.

Quirky and enjoyable

Used to be in fantastic condition but not so much nowadays. You will get no better views on a golf course anywhere.
