Nice layout, shame about the weather
Enjoyed my round on this interesting layout, despite the poor weather that proceeded it.
I think it is testament to the course that, despite it being so wet underfoot that at one point I managed to plug my ball whilst taking a drop from a plugged lie, I still found this a pleasant game of golf.
No two consecutive holes are the same and although not overly long it uses the slopes, trees, contouring and bunkering to keep it challenging.
It had rained heavily the 24 hours prior to our round, and although it had been dry for an hour or two before teeing off, it was clear the course had taken a pounding and was going to play wet. They had 16 full greens on and probably half of the tee boxes, but since it was a wet winter weekend this seemed like a fair result. I felt it was good value and would definitely like to come back in a dry day in summer.
We didn't use the bar or restaurant on this instance, but it looked like a fair sized facility.
Only issue we had was difficulty getting access to the locker room for retrieving shoes after the round. No one in the club house seemed to know the code for the locker room door, so make sure there will be someone around when you come before leaving anything in the clubhouse.
Played the course before. Very nice course. Some of the holes were not flattened down so when you played a slow shot to the hole it would run round the hole.
Great course, great condition
A very nice course, was in very good condition all round, fairways, greens and bunkers all well maintained. I will definitely be back in the future. Great value if you can get a hot deal 👍🏻!
Lovely course
Nice course and well kept, only issue was how dry and scorched some of the course was due to the recent hot weather but nothing they can do about that and not a bad problem to have in this part of the country. This definitely made the conditions tough as it was hard to stop on the greens but overall an enjoyable round. Will definitely play again
First time
First time playing and was a good track. 11 and 12 are brilliant. Bit slow play as took nearly 4 and half hours to get the 18 played.
Lovely course but not such a Hot Deal
The layout and condition of the course were excellent and we enjoyed it even though we were playing off the fairways to winter greens. It was frustrating however to discover our Hit Deal of £13.99 was more than the regular visitor fee of £10 in the winter. We’ll certainly come back in the summer but we’ll check the price direct with the course first.
Winter golf
Trying to be fair with this review bearing in mind it’s winter conditions. Was surprised how bogey the coarse was with little rain on the run up to playing coarse . Was also couple of crossovers which I’m not a big fan of . One of the holes were closed and probably one of the best holes on coarse . Positive notes all greens bar the one that was closed were on and few nice holes which would be great to play in spring and during the summer months . To be honest I would need to play coarse again if I were thinking about recommending coarse to others . Staff were friendly in pro shop too …
Great course
Really enjoyed ourselves at Carluke. Course was in great condition and greens really fast. Would definitely return.
Mark
Course was in excellent condition, greens in particular were great.
Good layout, challenging but not too difficult for a mid handicap golfer
Would defo play again
