Rouken Glen GC

The course was pretty soft due to the weather that week. The greens are good and true. Its was busy but flowed ok. It was great for a practice round and some holes are hard to score on. For the money I thought it was decent value. I would play it again when it dries out.

Challenging course

Good challenging course. A good test of golf with some challenging holes including the 200 yard par 3 3rd which plays up a steep hole.
We went on a wet day which was unfortunate as some of the valleys in the course were too muddy to be enjoyable but on a summers day this would be a proper course.
Will look forward to playing again in summer.

Great value.

Tough first few holes walking uphill but soon levels out. Great value and general vibe. Perfect for learners - improvers.

Run down. Lose all your balls in the rough.

No point in playing this course. Can hit a nice shot and it’s lost in long grass or plug under ground. Don’t bother wasting your time.

Great value for money

Played this course in wet conditions the course stood up well to the torrential rain only green that was unplayable was the 16th which was flooded, but overall was a good round of golf.
First few holes are a little uphill but after that it evens itself out and is relatively flat, played the course a few times and will definitely be back

Unscheduled appearances from the 2nd tee

Nice course, and well laid out - although a visitor will really need to consult the map, as tees are missing markers and directions in places. Challenging from the 3rd hole to 7th, a lot of uphill and hidden greens.

A few mysterious players appeared behind us when we were on 2nd, didn't think we played that slow - and never saw them when leaving the 1st green. Remembering that the public park walkway is adjacent to the 2nd tee. Play was slowed down when we caught up with a group of players one hole ahead of us at 4th. Same group were sitting chilling under the trees at 9th, letting us play on. Definitely jumpers on this course, maybe members playing selected holes - but annoying all the same.

Slow play.

Over 2 hours for 9 holes - walked off. Course in decent condition but a very average lay out. Even at £15 not worth the money.

OK for practice round

The course was OK, but could do with being maintained more thoroughly. Tee areas are not the best at points (sloped, lumpy), greens were ok for the most part, with a few being rather messy. Overall OK for a practice hit and for only £15, you can't really complain.

Enjoyable golf experience.

First time playing this course so didn’t really know the layout/distances, etc. I enjoyed the round as many holes are drive, iron into the greens which suits players who don’t hit far. Greens are small and very dry at the moment so difficult to stop the ball close to the hole. Lunch at David Lloyd as courtesy of playing course.

Poor course

I was a member of this course 20 years ago before David Lloyd took it over and nothing has changed with the state of the course. Tee boxes are very poor. Mostly muddy and uneven. Greens are in a terrible state also. If it wasn't for the fact I only paid £14 for the round I'd have made a complaint. What should've been a round bringing back good memories only left me with regrets!!

Good value for money

Rouken Glen is a well kept public/private course and well laid. If you go early enough you generally get a clear round with minimal hold ups.
