Tough for inexperienced players
The course is lovely but very open with multiple holes crossing over each other. Those who are not confident in their ability to hit straight may feel intimidated.
Locals seem really friendly
Good quality course value for money
Course in excellent condition for the time of year and especially after recent weather, greens well kept and a good variety of holes, course is a bit of a hike not for the unfit.downside to my round was nobody at course to confirm booking, unable to obtain scorecards or refreshments for our round.
Great views
It was a challenging course , nice greens and great views. This course is very hilly and has many blind holes, definitely a course to keep you fit.
Barry Nixon
Course in a great condition as an ex member who gave golf a break due to the way I was playing having used tee times this summer had some great deals but for £10 a round and £450 if you wish to join you will not find a better course in the area no 2 holes the same course is hilly but the more you play it they become easier highly recommend lochwinnoch give it a go you won’t be disappointed
Very challenging course
Very nice course, played with some local chaps who were all friendly, it's a tough track with some great scenery.
Great course
Very hilly though a lovely course
Lots of nice holes
Loved the holes, Bit of a walk up hill but still enjoyed it.
Great views
The course was fairly dry considering there had been a fair amount of rain on the previous day. fairways were all well looked after but a number of greens were under repair. The course itself was nice to play but a warning for older golfers, its fairly hilly.
Not good for the amateur
I played this course with a friend - both fairly new to golf. The par 3's left little room for error and the course layout was a little confusing at times. The greens were particularly disappointing on some of the holes, patchy (which if you were playing at a council course you would expect) however I would have expected more. Overall not a bad course, I would play it again.
Course in excellent condition, offering great views.
Bit hilly in parts but an all round excellent course.
Some interesting holes with a few tricky par 3's
Par 3 18th is an excellent finishing hole.
A Wee Gem that's worth ALL the effort.
If you like to test yourself on a truly challenging course that requires every type of shot in your bag, then Lochwinnoch is a great course for real Shot-Makers. When we played it, the general agreed comment was that no two holes even resemble each other. We found 18 almost completely different types of hole throughout our round.
As another reviewer said, from around holes 12 to 15 you do have a few hills to traverse, but these holes will either make or break your round.
The opening hole only yielded one par within our group of well experienced and competent golfers -It is one of the hardest dog-log, slightly uphill opening holes you will come across anywhere.
Fairways were, sloping but in nice condition and the greens were in very nice condition, but very, very testing on the reads.
I'm sure even the low-handicap members like to see that one safely behind them as the start a medal or comp.
Even if your card was "avergie!" like mine, you will at least be rewarded with some awesome views, especially in the middle of your round.
All four of us agreed that it is one course we will be returning to try and tame very soon.
One thing that shone out loud and bright was the friendliness of everyone from the staff to those we passed/met out on the course and afterwards.
Well done to all concerned, as it certainly added to the enjoyment of my day - even with the final card numbers I had.
See you soon Lochwinnoch.
Very friendly little club
The course appears to be run by volunteers who are doing an excellent job as I know the club nearly folded a year or 2 ago. It's a bit quirky and a lot of the holes are up hill but you are rewarded with a couple of downhill ones at the end. The day we played was quite pleasant weather wise and the views from the high up holes are lovely.
The 2 volunteers that I met at the golf shop were very friendly and helpful. What let's it down is the lack of catering facilities but there are cafes and pubs etc on the Main Street that you could use.
I would warn you that it's a hard slog up the hill and bring plenty of water if it's warm but some of the holes are actually very challenging and enjoyable.
I'll certainly be back as I would like to play in their seniors open.
