Didn't see the course at its best

Course was very wet and muddy, all temporary greens which I wouldn't have played if I had managed to speak to someone prior to my round. Looks a testing course which I will play in the summer to see it at its best. Members were very friendly

This course is very flat

Enjoyed my round of golf but unfortunately many of the holes were on winter greens. Look forward to a return visit in the summer.

Beautiful flat parkland course

This course I found to be a very fair challenge and the fairways are certainly wide enough. However there are a lot of trees lining the fairways and plenty of large well-positioned bunkers to catch stray shots. The greens are large and pretty flat and although they were quite slow, they were in good condition , true , and perfectly consistent. I used every club in my bag at some time during the round and each hole is pretty well secluded and distinct. I was fortunate enough to play with a knowledgable member who kept me right with lines etc but there are only a couple of holes with blind shots.
The course was well laid-out and the variety and shape of the trees was amazing and set a beautiful scene.
A fine meal in the comfortable loung overlooking the putting green and manicured gardens topped off an excellent afternoon's entertainment. Pity my golf could not match the occasion!

Great Layout but Very Poor Greens

Have been wanting to play this course for sometime as it carries a good reputation in the local area. First impressions when you walk onto the first is that it is in need of some tlc. The first green was appalling. Several bare patches, uneven growth, hairy and very, very slow. Worst of all it was almost midday and the heavy overnight dew and leaves had not been wiped from the surface (something that is performed at my home course greenkeeping staff at the crack of dawn each day). The first green appeared to be the worst but the rest were only slightly better. Have played more that a dozen courses this year but these greens were the poorest. Some of the bunkers also hadn't been raked. The course has a great layout and would prove a suitable challenge for most golfers without being overly so. Clubhouse facilities, staff and food served were great. A very nice parkland setting but a bit more attention is required to bring it up to scratch.
