Badly maintained

Was only £7 for the round so can't really complain but the course was a mess, felt like I was playing in mud for 90% of it. Was a few winter greens but even the holes that used the usual green, you couldn't putt on. Some of the holes we had to take the long way round due to mud then even on the tee we had to play from where we could as the tee was full of divots and unplayable.

It was good to get out in april, and maybe it'll be better in the summer but it would be the last course we choose to be honest.

There wasn't much "excitement" in it, not much danger, a very straightforward muddy course.

Just about playable

Booked very last minute after another course was closed. Had no record of my booking but managed to squeeze me in after providing Golfnow conf.

Its been very wet and the course was something of a mudbath but still open so one cant complain.

There were two greens using temporary winter greens but the rest were open. Greens were very slow and fluffy. Course is pretty up and down with few surprises.

Its golf when other options were limited and cheap.

My local course...

Having played here on n off for 30yrs I knew what to expect. Prone to waterlogging especially at this time of year it was absolutely sodden (really would recommend waterproofs n wellies) and lost a few balls ON the fairway! As expected a few winter greens n tees on, and disappointed to see some bunkers still in disrepair but the summer greens were in surprisingly good condition.

Considering its 5 mins away and at £8 its great value for a knockabout in mid November, and believe me during the summer it's a great course, a good layout, and very underrated for a council course.

Great council course

Grew up playing this course so have a bond with it. Hadn’t played it for a long time. At the time I played it the weather hadn’t been fair and there was a lot of water on the course in parts. On the front nine lots of the fairways were very wet in places but still playable. Front nine greens were okay but the green staff were out doing work on them. Some of the bunkers on the front nine appear to have been abandoned as bunkers and are a sort of no mans land GUR. Not sure what was going on there. On to the back nine and whilst a few of the fairways were pretty wet it was better than the front nine. Greens on the back nine were excellent and in very good nick. On the whole a very enjoyable round and a course very close to my heart. Can’t beat it for a tenner and remember it’s October so don’t knock the wet fairways. As Arnie says I’ll be back.

You pay £12, you get what u pay for. Yes it’s boggy, yes it’s not the best condition but all on normal greens, it’s just good to get a game sometimes for a small price.

Great layout

Course has great layout but its not being looked after to any great degree.
Sadly its showing signs of deterioration unless money is spent on it,it will become a course that won't be worth visiting, which is a shame as its layout makes it up there with the very best in the area.

Wet weather

A very wet day

The course was almost unplayable due to the amount of casual water.
However, the course was well laid out and on a drier day would have been a fair test.

Did not play

Hey lads you had double booked my time slot with those who had contacted the course directly. I get there and there was about 6 groups ahead of me and then the group in the original time slot behind me. I told the course I would change my date to accommodate the original booking which I did and then left. No golf for me! Ps Palacerigg have ringing and ringing to try and talk about all these double bookings and there's never any answering so maybe answer your phone!

Poor show, over booked

The starters office had failed to add several external bookings like golf now to their system. Was first accused of having the wrong time but then after showing my booking I was told there was an issue with people not adding external bookings to their system. Ended up having to play the back nine first, by the time we got to the front nine the place was choked. Had people on the fairways waiting on the green, people on the tees waiting on the fairways and a queue at the tees. Poor show. Also the back nine is a bit of mess. The place is pretty cut up.
