Palacerigg Municipal G.C.
A great wee course with something for everyone. Staff are both very welcoming and very accomodating to/for visitors. Course was in excellent condition, and the setting is very aesthetically pleasing. Good mixture of challenging long holes, and enjoyable shorter par - 4s, but don't think that that means they are easy! - in full summer growth the rough can be quite punishing. Overall, a very enjoyable and relaxing experience,on a surely under-rated golf course offering fantastic value for money.
Value For Money
Great course layout greens could do with some tlc especially 17 bunkers on 16 unplayable apart from that very good course for what your paying £13.50 On a Saturday afternoon can't beat it
Palacerigg golf course
Paid for 18 holes but had no way of finding out (in advance of paying)that there was an outing playing in front of us with play being really slow so we walked off after 9..
I wouldn’t rush back to this course.
Value for money
Greens needing some attention other than that all round decent course
Stay away
Probably the worst course I’ve played , fairways terrible , greens were shocking, played on winter greens that were better,
Good condition
Played course for first time in years.Course was in very good condition although greens need another few weeks to let grass grow after the severe winter.Great value
Hidden gem
Great day's golfing. Slow 4 ball holding everyone up. Enjoy the round in the sun. Staff very welcoming and friendly, will definitely be going back for more golf.
Well after playing this course as a kid growing up. I remember how it used to be. And last year was the first time I'd played golf in 18 years. And the course was in a shocking state. But decided to play it last week, and the difference was fantastic. Still nowhere near as good as years back but is getting there. The 12th dog leg hole was still in poor shape but once you get around the bend the fairway looks much better and the green is a huge one but was in amazing condition after the weeks of rain.
Overall I seen much improvements to the course since last playing it.
Value for money?? I'd say no as you can play better courses for less. Unless you get a deal. But for a council course. You WILL NOT FIND A BETTER COURSE.
Decent Public Course
Played this after some serious rainfall the day before. Despite this, the course wasn't too bad, zero run on the fairways which made some holes on the front 9 quite long. Back 9 full of short par 4's which, on a dry day would be easy to play. Great value for money for 18 holes and I would play again.
Fantastic layout
Enjoyed a good round of golf on a nice course fantastic layout could be better if the council would spend some money on it potentially one of the best courses in central Scotland
Beautiful layout
Got a group on deal for this course - what a bargain. I can't believe this is a municipal course.
We played the day after torrential rain and yet the course was in lovely condition and the greens were properly good. It didn't seem especially busy although there were players around the course so pace of play wasn't an issue.
The only disappointment was the clubhouse which didn't seem to be opened but that didn't spoil our golf.
Hidden gem
Must be central Scotland's top municipal facility. Deserves to be better known. Welcoming and professional staff.
Surprising find
I didn't have high expectations being told this was a municipal course but was more than pleasantly surprised to find a a lovely layout and the course in very decent condition.
A thoroughly enjoyable round.
Some laugh
It was a belter of a Sunday , sun was splitting the Cumbernauld sky when my pal Arron decided to whip out the metal wan and chip this beauty in fae aboot 190 yards .... Tae ma Shock it went straight in the hole , we heard a shout from the few in attendance of 'it's in the hole'
Some banter but he straddled the pitching wedge like a horse and started galloping up the 9th fairway to get his Dunlop baw,
Cheers pally rigg see ye next year for ma green jacket
