We played this course as a last resort, because we couldn't find any other early Tee times, but instantly regretted it.
Green and Tee boxes are terrible.
Fairway is water logged.
Paths are a mess.
If you are not straight down the fairway your ball is lost.
No playing out the rough, the heather is wild and your ball is gone.
Never lost so many balls in my life.
Would not recommend or ever play again.
The layout is good, but the course is neglected.
No excuse
Greens have been shocking for years. Now it’s worse than ever. Shame as it could be a good track. I’d recommend using this place for practice if you can find a £10-15 round price. Just pick up on the greens with an automatic 2 putt, as otherwise it’s pure comedy.
Photo shows the first green. The colour change represents a change in height of 2-3mm between the sections
Wrsterwood golf course
Not sure what's happened to this course but the greens were absolutely terrible .shocking worst greens I have ever played.
It's a shame I played here ad a boy 30 yrs ago and greens were terrific so I was very disappointed today the greens were awful such a shame obviously not spending money on course .
Don't go not worth it
Terrible Greens!
Disappointed with the greens, some of them were absolutely shocking.
Poor greens
Staff were great on arrival and fairways and pathways were fine however every single green was in very poor condition which sadly took the shine off what should have been an enjoyable round.
Did Not Match Expectations
Thought the drainage on the fairways would have be better, there was too much lying water on the sodden ground and grass was overgrown. Even accounting for the recent showers the general condition of the course was poor.
Another issue was the course layout; the distance between the tees was much further than expected and the condition of the paths were rough and uneven in many places.
These views were shared with my two fellow players … and we agreed it was not worth the fee charged and it is not a course we would be recommending or be willing to revisit.
Finally the staff and off course facilities were very good and cannot be faulted.
Fair price, but tough for low skill golfers
Course was in good condition as were greens, and was a decent price. Only criticism is the rough is brutal. If you can't control it off the tee be prepared to bring lots of extra golf balls.
I'd you're reasonably accurate off the tee the course is a good challenge and fun to play. Might advise to hire buggies.
Terrible
Upon arrival, the pro shop was closed and no staff were about meaning we couldn’t get water or score cards for the course. It would have been easy to walk on and not pay the outrageous price of £31 per person, no such luck however.
The course is clearly needing maintenance, with rocks in bunkers and missing tee box markers. The bins were also overflowing, and the ball washers were bone dry.
As a result of there being no staff about, we quickly caught up with 2 groups of 5, obviously drinking and slowing up the whole course. At one point there was 5 groups of golfers on one hole. We gave up after 10 holes and walked in, absolute shambles. I await a full refund….
Great day out
Course was a lot of fun, some really challenging holes and some fun ones too. Cant wait to come back and we were thinking of taking advantage of the hotel spa ha
Need to up your game
Hotel looking tired and understaffed.
Poor signage throughout and little help from staff to navigate from golf side to restaurant side.
So much potential dying a slow death.
Westerwood
Could be a great course with a bit of investment in greens.
OVERALL “NOT GOOD” IN GENERAL.
Greens and bunkers in very poor condition, some work seemed to have been started and then left unfinished. Disappointed
Horrendous
Course condition is absolutely shocking!. The greens look like they have some sort of disease on them. There is hardly any grass on the tees. And it must be the muddiest course I have ever played. When we played there had not been alot of rain the previous week but the standing water around some of the greens and on the paths was deplorable. The fairways have all been dug up by the tracks on there lawnmowers or the golf buggies due to it being so wet and damp. One thing for sure for a Seve Ballesteros designed course the man must be turning in his grave at the state that the course has been left to rot .I for one will not be back.
