Helensburgh Golf Club
About
Helensburgh Golf Club was founded in August 1893 as a nine-hole layout. By 1905, the golf course had been extended to 18 holes. In the 1920s, James Braid devised many changes, some of which are still in place today.
Nestled on the shore of the Clyde River, Helensburgh is easily accessible, only 23 miles north west of Glasgow. The golf course is situated above the town, with fine views over the Clyde estuary to the west and Loch Lomond to the east.
The par-69 golf course is 6,104 yards long. Helensburgh Golf Club's 175-yard third hole is considered the signature hole, with out-of-bounds on the left, woods beyond and a pond in the front of the green, which slopes from back to front and helps stop the ball.

Great course and views , can’t fault it
Slow play
Nice course, greens in good condition. Shame about the slow play, walked off after 13 holes due to not being let through, have a word with the members. Took a hour to play first 7 holes, 2 to play the next 6.
Very wet
Nice views ,greens are good.course very wet ,even though their hadent been that much rain
Great Views
Nice layout, a good test of golf for the winter. Several fairways wet in places otherwise a pleasant round.

Beautiful Course
Was made very welcome by the Pro and really enjoyed my game at Helensburgh. Interesting holes with some spectacular views across the Clyde. Good mixture of challenges and all was in great condition. Great value for a quality course.
Fabulous to view and very friendly
A stunning vista from nearly every hole, a great layout and a worthy challenge. As always, I loved it, thanks to all at the club.

Great layout and spectacular views
First time ive played Helensburgh defo be back we bit hilly and windy what you would expect this time of year but course itself was in superb condition for this time of year greens wer the superb for end of season .The pro in shop was very helpfull and friendly 100% be looking to play there open if they have 1 but defo be back
Good friendly course with some great views
We were welcomed on arrival by the Men’s Club Captain, who guided us round to the bar/check-in area & told us a bit about the course layout. We had a nice coffee on terrace overlooking 18th green, amongst the friendly members. The Club dates from late 1880’s & has a traditional old Club House, lots of character but basic not modern facilities. The Pro Shop was closed (victim of Covid) so we were unable to hire an electric trolley, the limited pull trolleys were already all out on the course, however the General Manager went above & beyond bringing one out to us on the 4th after it was returned, with no charge for trolley or his personal service.
Course has a few hilly holes at start affording some great views over The Firth of Clyde & across to Loch Lomond.
The fairways are mostly quite generously wide, greens were in good condition possibly a little slow. A number of holes have a narrow ditch crossing the fairways at the bottom of slopes but other than that there is little in the way of water hazards. There are some interesting, challenging Par 3’s.
Really enjoyed our round of golf there.
