Helensburgh Golf Club
About
Helensburgh Golf Club was founded in August 1893 as a nine-hole layout. By 1905, the golf course had been extended to 18 holes. In the 1920s, James Braid devised many changes, some of which are still in place today.
Nestled on the shore of the Clyde River, Helensburgh is easily accessible, only 23 miles north west of Glasgow. The golf course is situated above the town, with fine views over the Clyde estuary to the west and Loch Lomond to the east.
The par-69 golf course is 6,104 yards long. Helensburgh Golf Club's 175-yard third hole is considered the signature hole, with out-of-bounds on the left, woods beyond and a pond in the front of the green, which slopes from back to front and helps stop the ball.

Great course
Great course, challenging layout with lots of undulating terrain, greens well kept and friendly clubhouse, highly recommended
Proper golf course!
Played this for the second time after doing so a few years ago.
The greens are some of the best I have played around Glasgow, its a relatively simple layout other than some key feature holes but it is still a challenge due to to some hills and the excellent greens.
Pleasure to play here and I will be back. Had a bit to eat as well, worthwhile if you can sit and admire the views of the Clyde.
Very scenic course
I enjoyed playing this course which I last played around four years ago. It is a very scenic course with superb views of the Clyde estuary and the surrounding moors. Unfortunately, it had rained heavily the previous day and there were some hefty showers so the course was pretty wet in parts which slowed the greens and made other lies very squelchy.
I received a very warm welcome by the club professional when I reported in for my round and the other people I met at the club were very friendly.
All in all a course and club to be recommended.
No communication
We were traveling to the course when we were told that it was cancelled due to us being outwith our tier area, we werent given much help in terms of trying to get a refund and we are still waiting on our money back. Played this course before though and its is good course but on this occasion we were let down
First time there
I’m currently a non member golfer so Iv been going round different courses to narrow down my options. Even with winter greens in forced today the course was in good condition with friendly staff in the pro shop and at the bar, members are also happy to say hello and to talk to while having a pint post round. Would definitely recommend for anyone consider playing the course. Great value for money at a fair price. Will definitely be back.
Very hilly
I really enjoyed playing the course but every hole was up hill.
lovely sceinic course
enjoyed round of golf pity it was a bit frosted and winter greens , ground conditions fine ,
Helensburgh
Staff were very welcoming, and course was in great condition for mid-November.
Played the course the day after a big storm. Course has stood up well to all the rain but 19 trees had been brought down by the wind, however the green keepers had cleared the debris from the course. A very nice layout with good greens made for an enjoyable game and we look forward to coming back again in the future.
Course is OK
Relatively short course. In reasonable condition. Some tricky greens. Good value for money at £10 each, but probably not great value at the rack rate.
Very good in all respects.
Excellent food and coffee, helpful proshop, course in good condition, especially the greens. Full marks.
Great Find
This is a top notch course for a a great price with an interesting variety of holes - a real bargain that's easy to recommend. What stands out is the speed and quality of the greens.
We played in heavy rain for a good part of the round and the greens were still slick and true, there's some good greenkeeping happening around here..it's extremely well kept.
Off course the staff are very friendly and welcolming and some great scenery to boot..
It's a winner - give it a bash and enjoy !
Lovely course staff and professional members made you welcome overall enjoyable day
Hardly a reason for voting a course 1star!! You shouldn't have been leaving your tier.
