Clifton Highlands Golf Course
About
Clifton Highlands Golf Club, just north of Prescott, enjoys a scenic location overlooking the St. Croix River Valley. The club offers a championship 18-hole course as well as a par-3 course. Dr. Gordon Emerson, Wisconsin's most prolific course designer, designed the Championship Course. He considered it some of his best work. The golf course has enough diversity to appeal to both low and high handicappers. The layout is fairly tight with mature trees framing many of the holes. The undulating greens and fairways are meticulously maintained. A combination of water and sand comes into play, providing a fair amount of challenges without being too punishing. In addition to the 27 holes, Clifton Highlands G.C. also has a driving range and practice greens that are adjacent to the first tees of both golf courses.

Those Greens!
True and fast greens. Make sure your below the hole!
Fantastic
The Highlands is a fantastic course. Challenging even for seasoned golfers. Amazing scenery and well kept. Looking forward to more rounds there this season.
Took 5 hrs to play as a single
It took me 5 hours to play a round by myself. Pace of play was ridiculous, and there was no marshal to keep people moving
Love this place
Seemingly always in great shape and same with the greens. A lot of undulations on the greens and pin placements are usually very tough, can’t go long on any hole lol. Staff is always nice and they have REALLY good food as well and fairly priced. I’ll play here 8-10 times a year and I’m driving from Saint Paul if that says anything.
Friendliest course ever
It had been a few years since we made the drive to play this course and we will be back much sooner. The course is in good shape with a good layout. We played 18 in less than 4 hours and 30 minutes, so the pace was good. What stood out for me was the friendliness of staff! I can’t count how many times we were asked by staff how we were enjoying the course. They seemed legitimately invested in making our golf day a good experience.
Average
Flat, short course
Well maintained greens
Driving range is below average
Average course, not very scenic, nothing special
Wisconsin gem
Enjoyed playing this beautiful little course. Fun layout on the shorter side. The closing five holes are amazing. Green rolled true. Friendliest staff.
Couldn’t agree more. Very slow play - no one moving things along. And what’s up with the golf carts? Extremely slow!
