Clifton Highlands Golf Course
About
Clifton Highlands Golf Club, just north of Prescott, enjoys a scenic location overlooking the St. Croix River Valley. The club offers a championship 18-hole course as well as a par-3 course. Dr. Gordon Emerson, Wisconsin's most prolific course designer, designed the Championship Course. He considered it some of his best work. The golf course has enough diversity to appeal to both low and high handicappers. The layout is fairly tight with mature trees framing many of the holes. The undulating greens and fairways are meticulously maintained. A combination of water and sand comes into play, providing a fair amount of challenges without being too punishing. In addition to the 27 holes, Clifton Highlands G.C. also has a driving range and practice greens that are adjacent to the first tees of both golf courses.

Slow play
Have played this course many times, usually with no issues. The biggest problem I have run into on more then one occasion is pace of play.
Today I had a FOURSOME that would not let me (single) play through, had to wait on every shot from the 15th tee to the end. They knew I was behind them as they practically ran off of the 16th green after one of them had to retry a 2 foot put while I was waiting on the tee.
I don't care if it's members or public players, there is no excuse for this kind of play. If there was a ranger patrolling the course this problem could be alleviated to some extent.
As nice as the course is the slow play is so frustrating that I consider not playing here anymore
As Expect but still wonderful
Clifton Highlands has been a go-to course for me for almost 35 years, a hidden gem that I am afraid to tell the truth about as they could become to crowded to get on. From almost perfect fairways and greens, to the friendly golf staff and the wonderful food an beverage service. I could go on for days. A wonderful course design, straightforward, not tricky. With a resistance to scoring that makes it that much fun to come back.
Nice course with a decent amount of variety
I have nothing bad to say about this course. It was a fun play with some moderate elevation on a hole-to-hole basis. The course itself was well kept. No brown grass in sight. For the green fees....this course outplays a lot of similarly priced courses. I'll make the longer drive for a nice course like Clifton Highlands...rather than some of the lazier courses around me.
Nice Course
First time playing this course and we’ll be back. Staff was very friendly and course was in great shape!
Great day for golf
Great course. Greens were extremely fast and tricky. Course overall was in good condition. Driving range was not easily accessible and not very big. But the staff was ve4y friendly and helpful. Would go back again
Highly recommend
First time out that way... Beautiful course. I'll definitely be back
Solid course, challenges your short game
Solid course, good deal, some nice views. Only got to play the front 9, heard the back 9 is beautiful. Front 9 had somewhat simple shots off the tee but small greens as targets and very sloped greens making chips and putts pretty dang tough. A fun experience and the people in the clubhouse were super friendly.
