Dougalston
The course was in very poor condition bunkers scarce of sand not been raked poor fairways and about half of the greens were in poor condition I think they are paying more attention to the health club than the upkeep of the golf course
Bargain
Dougalston is an unbelievable bargain of a course. I've paid more for nine holes. The course itself is surrounded by woodland with some interesting water hazards. Bring extra balls. The pro shop couldn't have been helpful. It was a little wet underfoot when we played pre-season but the greens stood up well to the soggy weather.
Very Good Challenging Course
Unfortunately we chose to play this course not long after a fairly constant period of rain. On first hole heavens opened with rain & hail however this did stop allowing us to continue with round which we both enjoyed. Due to past weather the course was a bit wet underfoot(I don't think any other course would be any different). This course is a bit hilly with a good variety of holes and test for any golfer with some accurate shots of the tee required. The par threes were great fun especially either the ninth or eleventh(not sure which but surely the course's signature hole requiring a good straight shot up the seep hill(great fun). This is a course that needs to be played a few times to make the best of it though and we will definitely be back. The only problem we had was 'idiot dog-walkers' walking across fairways just before driving off(I don't blame the course for this though as these fools should consider their own safety). If you like a really good challenge this is the course for you. I guarantee you will want to go back.
Well worth a visit
As to be expected this time of year all winter greens & tees. Always made to feel welcomed. The staff are excellent always helpful would certainly recommend and definitely return in the near future
Great challenge
Great course to play, unfortunately due to rubbish weather and coming into winter, had to tee off from mats some of which where moved some distance from original tee boxes.
Some greens where in a bit of a mess due to being hollow-cored, however most where in good condition considering the time of year.
Lovely layout and will definitely be back in the summer, sure it’ll be a different challenge then, paid £27 each for the round, personally would say £20 through winter would be more reasonable but still thoroughly enjoyable day if you play well and hit the ball well could score really well
Dougalston
The course in general was good for this time of year, the greens were okay although could have done with a swipe to take the moisture off. Always a test playing here. but enjoyable
Wee gem of a course
Had a great day out at dougalston recently and would highly recommend this course to any amateur golfer looking for that extra challenge then this is the course for you.
Real good golf test
Due to recent heavy rain, course was a little heavy where course was in the shade due to the trees.
Course in fine condition and a true test of accuracy with tree lined fairways from the tees.
Feel this course is way underplayed and will be looking out for another round in the near future.
Solo round
Staff on arrival friendly. The greens a bit slow and need a cut but still decent enough. Tee boxes a little tired looking and the fairways had cut grass all over them so ended up with messy clubs shoes and trolley. The course was deserted so flew round in just under 3hrs. Course signage could be improved as I got lost twice looking for the next tees. Overall I enjoyed it even though it plays quite long.
Course was in pretty good shape, a few watery patches in places. A lot of walking between holes, by the time I'd finished the round I was spent. The heat didn't help. Sign posting for each tee was not good, could be better. The course it's self was testing but very enjoyable.
Nice wee course
Greens were immaculate, tricky blind shots on a couple of holes which is always a nice wee tester. Tight T shots that punish wayward drives will definitely play again.
Course was brilliant
Played a 2 ball first time playing thoroughly enjoyed it every hole is different greens beat I've played in this year will deffo be back soon
Shambles
Course is in terrible condition. Greens completely over sanded, tee boxes are either far too long or completely covered in divots. Pro shop and general amenities are also in a bad way.
A step up from municipal.
Decent little course. Consider it a step up from a municipal, price is reflective of the course. Signage could be improved a little in some areas as there’s a couple of tees that aren’t obviously located from the previous green.
Beautiful woodland course
First time playing here. It's a beautiful woodland course with a wide variety of holes types, some challenging and others pretty easy going. The course layout is not the best. I found myself wandering around looking for a couple of tee boxes, but got there in the end... Shot a really good round and enjoyed, so I'll definitely be back again.
A RECONSTRUCTED COURSE
Played this course some years ago and the layout was much better.
Houses have been built and the changed layout involves a lot of walking from green to the next tee and some holes are not so good. The original holes which haven’t changed are much better.
Course condition is average, and has never been any better throughout the years I have played it. There are some excellent holes, however, and at the price it charges the course is well worth playing.
There is a clubhouse which is shared with Nuffield Health but there was nobody in the bar or cafe area when we came in at 6pm.
It was fun
Design of the course was fun & interesting enough that I'll definitely revisit in the future
Worth a visit
As well as could be considering so early in the season
Played here on numerous occasions well laid out course would certainly recommend and most certainly return
Great coarse
Was very pleasant again, 2nd time in less than a week. Great coarse, would certainly play again, only downside is the greens were uneven… ( bobbly) so certainly need to be rolled…. But appreciate we only coming out of winter so I am sure they will be top notch for the summer… great friendly staff as always. Will be back
