Golf has been played at Leven Links Golf Course since 1846, making it one of the oldest clubs in the world. It has a unique landscape of parallel dune ridges that provides the ideal setting for links golf. The slopes and undulations of the terrain are used throughout the golf course, including the fairways that were molded from the valleys created by the dunes. The prevailing winds that blow through the course are often another challenging factor that is added to the game. The first four holes, all par 4s, play long but as the holes continue they become more up-and-down. The golf course opens with a tricky hole where the green sits on a ridge plateau and it finishes with what some have boasted is one of the best finishing holes in the country. It is another difficult par 4 with a burn stretching across the front of the green.

Course condition.

Every part of the course was like playing off concrete. The bunkers were good though.

Fantastic Course

I played om Jan 3rd 2024. Wasn't expecting much from the course given we have had horrendous weather recently but I was pleasantly surprised. The course was in fantastic condition and the greens were just perfect for playing especially after the rain we've had over the festive period. Credit to the green keepers for the job they've done.
The staff I'm the shop were very friendly and informative about the course layout that really helped us as it was our first time playing the course.
Will definitely be back in the summer and would 100% recommend the course to friends.
I live in Glasgow and I am now considering a Country Membership so I have access to the course 7 days a week.

Nice links course

Interesting links course. Lots of blind shots. Friendly staff and lovely lunch in Member’s clubhouse. If any criticism it would be that the fairways were not in good condition.

Leven Links Course

Very nice course,
Great to play with windy conditions,
Serious challenge with wind in front, nice view on the see and harbor.
Greens could have been faster specially on a day of the Tartan pro Tour is going on.

Difficult but fun

This is a very challenging track, especially in windy conditions. Lovely views along the sea but do not be fooled by the big greens as they are very tricky to read.

Leven

Yeah a very decent set up, enjoyed the course and a pleasure to play on a dry course for the first time in months. Looking forward to returning in the Summer.

Lovely location

The course was in a lovely location and had some super holes but we expected the course to be in top notch condition which it wasn’t. The greens were good but the fairways were very very poor!
Having said that we still enjoyed our game but we’re thankful we hadn’t played the full price as it wouldn’t have been worth it.

Costly for the experience

Whilst the course was nice we found it very expensive for what you got compared to other courses in the area. £51pp was in our opinion on a hot deal was over priced and therefore wouldn’t recommend to others instead pointing them to courses elsewhere in same area due to the vast choice.

Nice greens

The golf staff were very friendly and helpful. The layout was good but the fairways were a bit rough. Greens were great and true. Not much in the clubhouse. Overall an enjoyable game but could have chosen better locally.

Not a good experience of golf in Scotland at the price charged for the round

The Ladies changing rooms were closed for refurbishment. The only access for visiting Ladies to the clubhouse was through the men’s locker room!
We had to wait at every tee after the third behind club matches, resulting in very slow and disrupted play.
We followed the treatment of greens and fairways causing further disruption The mixed and generally poor condition of the fairways etc did not justify the price being charged for the round when compared with other courses played in the area
A number of tee boxes were close to the previous greens compromising safe play
Not a good advert for golf in Scotland

Great winter golf

Great value, course in excellent condition for time of year, greens were faster than most in summer. Mats in play on fairways & first-cut, no issues with that, helps protect course for the main season. Ideal course for this time of year, proves length not required to have a challenging, enjoyable round of golf.

Disappointing

Having paid £37, I didn’t expect to only be able to play 16 holes (two par 3s were out of play) and for all of those I did play to be on temporary greens. I appreciate the need for temps when there’s a frost but it had largely cleared by the time I played and I assumed that most if not all would be on full greens; I would not have booked if I’d known, let alone paid that price.

A shame, because Leven is a good quality links which is well worth the price for the full experience.

Great course but choose your time wisely

Thoroughly enjoyable and challenging golf course but we spent the front 9 serenaded by football chanting from a nearby stadium. Very off putting and would not play on a Saturday afternoon again.
