Great course but….
This course is beautiful. Nestled in the mountain pines with great views and a fun layout. Love it. What I don’t love is the pace of play here. Played the course twice now and have yet to finish a round in under 5 hours. So darn slow. It’s slow because the course is very difficult if you’re a high handicap golfer. I saw numerous groups searching in the woods for their golf balls. From 1 through 18 there isn’t much relief if you don’t hit the ball fairly straight. Not the course’s fault. I only mention this as a warning to those of you who hate waiting every hole to hit. Again, this course is beautiful and fun if you have the patience required to finish 18 holes.
Great course!!
Great layout. Nice greens.
Everything''s great about this course.
Beautiful course.
It helped to study the course in advance. I also followed the course tips and even birdied the
16th hole. It was challenging and a lot of fun!
Fun course unless you have a two way miss
Always enjoy playing Apple Mountain. Fun and tricky course. My one request is that the grounds crew sharpen the blades on the hole cutter. Last two times I’ve been there the holes have not had a clean cut to them which only really happens if those blades aren’t sharp. It makes a big difference aesthetically and in how the putts drop, and you need every little bit of help you can get on the greens there.
Greens also felt pretty slow to me, but I could just be used to higher stimps.
That’s it! Had a great time otherwise. Staff was very friendly and course was in good shape.
Great course, friendly staff, chronic slow play.
Course was in great shape. Staff always friendly and helpful. The only drawback to playing here, as always, is the snail-like pace of play, which isn’t the fault of the course, but of the players. Apple Mountain is a VERY challenging course, which many players either don’t understand or don’t appreciate. The 2 biggest issues are they lose ball after ball in the unforgiving rough (and then spend too long looking for them), or they underestimate their club selection, as the elevation changes on many holes adds a club length or two to your shot. There weren’t any rangers present to speed up the slowpokes, so it was a grind just to finish. So - if you’re a new (or bad) golfer, DON’T play here - you’ll have a not very fun day, lose a ton of balls, and upset everyone else who has to suffer playing behind you ! If you’re a good player, you’ll enjoy the challenge of having to play your best to score well.
perfect day for golf
very friendly in pro shop, course in very good shape, tough greens that are big but lots of slope and thick rough around the collars
