Bad experience
I have never written a review until now. We had a 3:40 tee time and I was playing with a son and father. The father was very good and teaching his son who was also good.our pace of play was quick and the driunk people behind us were incredibly rude, incredibly aggressive and caused a scuffle between themselves and the father. While the father was also somewhat in the wrong I have NEVER experienced such poor behavior on a golf course around a child by the 3:50 group and I’m not sure as much as I love this golf course I want to come back.
Love Skylinks.
The greens had been aerated with sand, but necessary. Pace was slow, but an Ambassador came & the pace improved.
Terrible conditions
This could be a great course but maintaining and managing skills are terrible. They need to fire all managers and staff. Figure it out. It’s not that hard. Other courses in the city are fantastic.(rec and el do)
Pace of play, why 5 hours?
Two Marshalls/Starters on the first hole. If the 11:30 tee time is not on the tee at 11:27, they should be skipped. The 11:40 tee time I was part of was all there and ready, while we sat and witnessed the 11:30 tee time hit the last of their multiple tee shots at 11:39. That already puts us behind 10 minutes. Over the course of a day it puts your whole course behind. As I walked through the 18 holes I really could not see why I had to be there for 5 hours to complete the round. Only reason I could see is mis-management at the first tee.
Poor pricing, repetitive and a bit boring course.
As you arrive for the first time, there is no indication at the car park entrance that you are entering Skylinks GC.
Booking via GolfNow includes a cart - but if you want to walk, there is no reduction in price like other courses do - so you waste $14.
You cannot take your cart to your car to load your clubs - you have to carry your perhaps heavy bag up to 100 yards.
The long holes are so like each other - - and that becomes boring. Wide flat fairways, and lots of big, concrete-hard bunkers. At least the greens are roly, challenging and in good condition. The fairways have many un-filled divot holes.
As a first-timer - it's easy to get lost - having to cross a busy main road a couple of times to find the next tee - as there's no signposting that I could see.
Skylinks is currently a poor set-up for what could be a much better-presented course.
I will not play here again - there are very much better courses all over OC.
Skylinks
This courses isn’t for everyone. Tight thin grass makes you have to make clean contact with ball first. Lots of bunkers guarding your tee and approach shots. I’ve shot under 80 and over 90 in the same week here. Good pace 80% of the days I play but not sure what weekends look like here. I personally like this course more than eldo but trees and me don’t get along there
Great day!
This is a nice walkable course. They were on schedule and actually got us off a little early. Tee time was 1;30 and we were able to get in 17 holes. In the winter during daylight savings that is good. Pan the starter was very friendly and helpful.
Not a good value
Fairways were hard and dry. In many areas the fairways were dirt, not grass.
Greens varied in speed. Some were not recently mowed and therefore slow, wihile others were faster.
The course was in better condition last summer.
This round was not worth $78
