Crazy greens
I had purposefully avoided this course due to playing time rumors. They are right.... playing time takes too long, but still worth playing as a historic course.
Biggest complaint was the greens. If u have to putt past the hole for the ball to come backwards into the cup, that is NOT golf. That is stupidity.
They try to make the ease of the course layout challenging by putting in stupid greens
Had fun... wouldn't do it again
The best municipal course in Los Angeles County.
Greens were excellent. Pace of play was great, did not wait to tee off on any hole.
Shockingly bad
Wow. They’ve really let the place go. Somebody in maintenance management haven’t been paying attention or they just have ignored the course conditions and have not put any work in but are just pocketing the money being lazy. The front 9 is totally trashed. Gopher remnants and dirt patches everywhere. They’re trying to seed some tees but what about the fairways and rough areas and the areas around the greens? Not to mention how bad the greens are!!! Usually the greens have been the one good thing but wow, they had waves and bumps and crud and pitch marks all over them.
Somebody’s head needs to roll, because with the rains we’d had, I was expecting it to be much much better than this but clearly they just let the rain come and go without utilising the water. It’s sad. The worst I’ve seen it in years. And with all the new, bad players out there who don’t fix anything, it’s only going to get worse
Gorgeous public course
Nice driving range and putting green. Played a twilight special, hoping to get in 9 holes. T time 305 pm, dark around 530. No problem. But, be aware, that “the turn” is no turn. The 9th green is about as far from the clubhouse/first hole as you can be. No big deal, but I only had (prescription j sunglasses and the 20 min walk back wasn’t easy!
Great course, gorgeous setting, surprisingly good pace of play. Would definitely return!
Classic course
This is a great.course. if you can shoot well here, you can play anywhere. Wish I had the skill set to score.better here, though.
Wilson
Wilson is a terrific layout. If it were private and had private club money to keep fairways, tee boxes, sand traps, and greens in Riviera condition it would be elite. Despite being relatively slow on flat putts the greens are difficult because of extreme slopes, and the fact that ball marks get repaired about once every 500 shots. You can’t beat the value. $36 with a cart. The course needs a Marshall as badly as any course you’ll ever play but does not. Golfers jump back and forth between Wilson and Harding haphazardly, people who hit the ball less than 150 yards off the tee frequently play the Blue tees, and dozens who should play Red play the whites.
Never feel rushing alls 18
Been at Harding many times but first time at Willson this will be one in my good memory and would looking forward to come back for more
