Beautiful though challenging, and disappointing greens

Played here 3 times while staying at nearby hotel. Lovely staff and good clubhouse. The course is cut through jungle and although there is some housing it is not obtrusive. Some carries were rather demanding from the longer tees, and our main criticism was that the greens (following a long dry spell) were slow and bumpy. Otherwise the course was in great condition, and the hole design was varied and often spectacular. Monkeys need to be watched or you will lose not only food, but golf balls! On balance, definitely recommended.

Zimbali a perfect resort course for vacation golf

Zimbali Country Club doesn't feel like a Weiskopf course. That's not a knock, just an observation. It lacks that signature short par 4 that is a staple of so many of his other designs. Zimbali offers a solid routing through the jungle with plenty of sweeping elevations and nice vistas.
There are three or four drives that feel like blind shots for the newcomer, playing over ridges in the fairway, but the fairways are usually wide enough to accommodate people who pick the wrong line or hit a stray ball. A new tee on the 15th hole should eliminate the blind spot on that drive, which must stop short of a wetland hazard players can't see. The downhill fourth provides a brief glimpse of the Indian Ocean.
If you're gung-ho - or foolish - like me, you can start at Zimbali and finish with a round at the historic Durban Country Club a half hour away. That's an impressive combination.
