Umkomaas Golf Course was first constructed as a 9 hole course in 1913 with the club being constituted in 1922. By 1926 the course had been extended to 18 holes and then in 1932 Robert Grimsdell re-designed the course to what remains as the basic layout today.

Umkomaas Golf Club is constructed over undulating terrain with some very challenging holes. The rough is mostly mown to a reasonable height but should you go too far off course you may find yourself in real trouble in the typical South Coast undergrowth.

Fairways are generally wide and well grassed with a number of the greens elevated above the level of the fairway making it all the more challenging. Greens are also well protected by bunkers in many instances.

Many of the tee's have stupendous views over the sea which is one of the trademarks of Umkomaas Golf Course.
