Perfect place to play
Worth the drive
Great course
Great restaurant
Can’t wait to play it again
We have played this course many times but not since Troon has taken over management. It was always in adequate condition and certainly good value since the layout is interesting and challenging enough. This time we paid twice as much as for any previous round and did so with the expectation that the new management improved conditions. The opposite is true. The greens are dotted with a weed infestation and in some cases there are obvious erosion issues. The sand traps have been completely abandoned! They have been left to overgrow with no sign that they are anything but an abandoned bunker. The revetted bunker on the 17th hole that was once a feature is gone but at least the there seems to have been some effort to contour the once steep sides. However, any shot to that side bounces the ball into the desert across the cart path. It is not worth the drive from Tucson to Benson. The course now looks like green strips in an abandoned sand pit. Any offline shot runs a very long way on the hard pan and into the desert landscape. A pity since it has a good bones and could make a for a fun round.
Not worth the drive from tucson
The fairways are green and good to hit off of, rest of the course…. Not so much. Bunkers are makeshift Scottish style grass bunkers that are mostly compact dirt. Most greens are damaged and growing sprouts. Layout of the course is great but the conditions are not worth the price. Save the gas and play one of the city courses in Tucson.
Slow play sucks
Again
Slow play
But the mud is less in the fairways
Still my favorite with freeway, billboards and sewer pond, dog pound too
Sand Pedro
Just an hour away
The Pedro
Always love playing there even though it is an hour drive. Love to putt the bent grass greens. I do not know how to get rid of the Poa annua in the greens, but hope the course superintendent can do something. The views are stunning and love the 2 Scottish Links holes
improving
we've been playing here for many years and are seeing improvement. Keep it up.
Slow play
Followed 3 RV pros so slow 3 players quit
I quit after 16
Second time in a row I had to quit due to slow play
It’s difficult to watch and when they are behind they don’t try to pick up the pace
When you’re a hole behind please PICK IT UP
LOOKING FOR BALLS, practice swings, plumb bobbing, not being ready to Play!
When you get to tee and no one is ahead of you that’s a clue.
Pace of play
With so few golfers on the course it should not have been over 4 hours to play. No marshal to move along the one slow foursome who were on pace for five hours — not out of arrogance but ignorance. They were nice enough guys but were clueless when it game to golf courtesy and course awareness. That’s on the management. Before sending any group to the first tee, you must remind them about pace of play. If you lose sight of the group ahead, focus on catching up, and if you can’t, wave through the golfers waiting behind you. Simple advice but the pro shop never gives it - not just here but almost anywhere. Bad culture. Fix it. Thanks. -Tony
Ok
My favorite with freeway billboards sewer pond and dog pound
Best time to play is July as winter is for the birds but glad it’s still open
Slow play but made it through 16 holes
Don’t know if it’s worth the drive anymore
Maybe next year I’ll try again
Slow bird tournament everyday
Shotgun tournament everyday
Slow birds
Like an Alfred Hitchcock movie
SLOW PLAY KILLS THE FUN OF GOLF
too bad so sad
Back to Fort Huachuca
PS course is over watered
Mud on the ball every shot
They could fix it all so ez
But the birds rule
Great to see the course in great condition!
First time playing the course this fall after it having been re-seeded. Fairways, greens and tee boxes were in great condition. Now if we could only get some of the bunkers back :)
Friendly staff as always!!!!
Great golf course
Still muddy due to water in the fairways because of over seeding
But it’s my favorite place to play
Great layout
Restaurant great
Employees great
Everyone should try this course
