Back in the Rotation
I hadn’t played Stonebridge in many years, but figured I’d give it a try to see how much I’d like it currently. Probably the key negative is the back and forth fairways on several holes that cause quite a bit of “Fore!” to be yelled by errant shots. Course conditions were spotty in places, but not poor enough to detract from a satisfactory round. I do like the layout which puts a high demand on approach shots and putts. I enjoyed playing at Stonebridge, so I’ll put it back in my playing rotation of courses on the Island.
Hot day golfing
Although it was a 2pm tee time there was no cart girl on course or any water coolers. For $72 there should be both particularly on hot days. Only complaint
Pace of play the issue
Stuck behind a slow and discourteous foursome. Finally, we just decided to go by them.
All round great course
I have played Stonebridge quite a bit over the last few years. I have never had a bad day there. While the course could use a few upgrades in certain areas seem necessary.
Average course
Super friendly starter and staff. Pace of play was really slow. Some parts of course does not drain well, so would not recommend after hard rain. Green condition used to be excellent, but degraded a bit. Some part of fairways could use some work. Bunker was ok given post rain condition. I think bit more investment need to be made on course condition and pace of play
Wear a helmet and prepare to sit around.
Course has some challenges, especially a few strange greens — the last green mimics a skate park while another green has a crater in the center. Very tight layout with tight fairways and balls flying at you from every direction. Slow play on a Saturday afternoon. Otherwise, course conditions are very good.
Just not sure
Can’t make up my mind about this course. Mostly positive but the things I didn’t like I really didn’t like. Where are the markers?? Can’t stand a course with no clear markers. Not all of us have GPS. And the tee boxes? Very chewed up and uneven. At least give us an even lie to tee off from. Rest of course was in pretty good shape. Plenty of ball marks on the greens andI unraked sand traps but that’s on all my fellow knucklehead golfers
Busy
It’s August and everyone’s playing golf! So expect slower play. Course was in good condition. Greens very nice. Most people ride but I walked and it’s very walkable. No benches or water fountains on the course so be prepared or get something before you play.
Fantastic
Great course with an excellent staff.
Gem in Long Island
Great course with a medley of features. Greens are tricky and strategy is required. Well maintained during most of the year as well.
Great upscale course
I love to play Stonebridge. The greens are perfect. Conditions in general are excellent. I only wish they would offer a 9 hole option.
Not my first time here
And not my last. The course when you can get a hot deal is very much in play. The greens need a bit more work as do the fairways. The course has a great many dog legs the come into play.
