Jan. 12 - golfing at Maywood
First, golfing in Louisville on Jan. 12 is a real gift. Weather temps started around 38 degrees and warmed up to the high 40's when we were finished. We were first off the tee and played our round in 3:30. The greens were in great shape, as always, and the course played well considering it was the middle of winter. Always a great experience at Maywood.
A Great Course all-Around
It had been a couple years since I had the opportunity to play Maywood and i've been able to play it twice this year; once in the Summer and once in November. Both times I had a great experience and the course looks simply fantastic.
The greens were in great shape both times (but its the players who fail to repair ballmarks - UUUGGHH! that cause the biggest issue. My pet peeve - I actually like repairing them so there was plenty of 'fun' to be had).
The course is challenging and well laid out. A golfer has to play smart golf rather than grip it and rip it to score well. Excellent scenery and some nice elevation changes make for a nice round.
The staff has always been super friendly and the Pro-shop has some really good deals. A shout out to Norman in he pro-shop for making a 1 hour frost delay go by quicly because of some intersting conversation.
An all around great course that is worth the driver from Louisville.
ball eating machine
An absolute treat, and located in the gorgeous small town of Bardstown. Buyer beware, this course will consume golf balls at the drop of a hat. I had some great drives, even in the fairway and completely lost my ball...which is always frustrating. Not sure if it was the brown grass, or uncut fields, or just the over all difficulty of the course. It'd be best to play with a pal, so they can keep an eye on your shot. Other than that, I love it... so picturesque
One of the best courses in KY!
You won't find a much better course in all of Kentucky. Narrow fairways and undulating greens make for a great test. My only complaint would be a lack of yardage markers. It was cold and windy, making for tough conditions overall. My hands got cold and I couldn't putt, but what a beautiful place! I was just happy to be out there. Wish I lived closer so I could play there more often.
Fun to play
Tough course. Greens roll true but can be easily misled with the changes in contour around the green. Good test of golf with a lot of pucker factor
Poor service
Flags were taken down before sun went down. Could not finish last three holes due to this. Water jugs missing on most holes, very hot day. Reserved tee time on golf now but was overcharged at course. Was refused my golf now discount.
Country Club Feel Without the Membership Fees
Very nice club. New Carts. The Pro Shop is well outfitted as well as the bar/restaurant. Great driving range. Moderate fees.
The course itself could be tough if played from the tips. (I did not!). Overall a very interesting course for all levels. Make sure you take ALL of your clubs! You will need them.....
Great course!
Grear course! Challenging and perfect for all ages.
Friendly staff. Well maintained course.
The course has a non-traditional layout, and the signage from greens to tees was very helpful. All things considered, the course is a fair challenge for the weekend golfer.
Great course
Played in the early evening as a twosome. The rate was cheaper than the public courses in the Louisville area. Course was in very nice shape. Staff very friendly. Very pleasant round. Course is challenging but fair. Was first trip but plan many return trips.
Challenging Course
To start, the carts are top of the line, nice cart paths. A GPS on the cart would be helpful though. As far as the course itself, very nice. Tee boxes well maintained and fairways beautiful. The rough is a beast. The greens were somewhat disappointing mainly because of the inconsideration of previous players. Several unfixed divots and old divots blemished what could be great greats. Overall great course.
Okay
We were disappointed. We found the front nine not very challenging mostly flat. The back nine was more fun and could take a different approach to the golf game. The tee boxes are mostly uneven, we felt more attention is needed there.
Nice
Maywood is usually pretty crowded and you can expect some pretty long rounds. Course is in good shape. Greens were a little chewed up because it gets so much play.
This course has a great layout and is well maintained.
The layout is challenging and fair. Well worth the drive to come to the country and play one of the better courses in the Louisville area.
This course is in good condition.
Good value for the money on a Sunday. The bunkers have sand but not raked so it is tight. Fairways are in great condition and the rough in good shape.
Great Course
Great course in great shape. Great value for the money.
The course is well maintained and very challenging.
This is a great value. My son has played PGA Jr golf tournaments here several times. Tips play over 7000 yards. The hot deal price was great. We played another 9 holes for $16 total ($8 apiece)
Decent enough
Very windy the day I played and the course played very tough. Decent enough course, though I wasn't blown away by it. A few weird holes that I didn't care for, and the par 3's as a group, most all of them short and extremely downhill didn't do it for me. OB in a lot of spots, some of which you wouldn't know hitting your tee shot if you never played the course, and I didn't know so hit a couple of shots ob that on most courses would not be. Nice driving range and they keep the course maintained. It's a pretty decent course and I'm sure some will like it much more than me, but it's not high up on my favorite list. For what I payed to play though it was a pretty good value.
Solid course
Greens are quick, fairways are getting better everyday. Bunkers are in Good shape. Stay out of the rough.
Nice course
Maywood is a solid course. Small tees, visually intimidating fairways and 2 challenging par 3s on the back 9.
