A GREAT COURSE TO USE YOUR LONG WOODS
THE GREENS WE FAST BUT FAIR.LOTS OF TREES AND DEEP BUNKERS. GREAT LONG PAR THREE'S.BEAUTIFUL SETTING DOWN VALLEY.NEED ANOTHER RESTROOM,AND NEW BALL CLEANERS.
My favorite local course. The o'girl needs some care.
The first course I played and it seemed in much better condition. It might be just me but, it seems the staff is letting things slip.
I will be back
I haven't played this course in almost 30 years. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. The course isn't too long, but it has plenty of challenge for the average golfer. There are mature oak trees galore, and the greens are just enough of a putting challenge. I will be back again, as I really enjoyed my round of golf.
Greens in very good shape and fairway well maintained.
I have played this course many times. I feel the greens are in better shape than past visits and fairway are in very good shape. Maintenance seems to be improved and course plays tough.
Had a great day at San Looey Rey
The day was almost perfect. Played on a Friday with my buddy and were paired with a nice couple from British Columbia. Shot my personal best at SLR and had a tasty dinner in the course restaurant. The course was crowded but we never felt rushed. The course was in pretty good condition. Nice fairways with a few chalk body outlines here and there...LOL
Greens were nice and on the fast side with a few blemishes as well. The bunkers were on the wet side as I was in my share of them. Great hot deal helped offset the gas spent coming up from SD.
Good condition and a great value.
Tee to geen the fairways are in good shape, very few patchy spots but those are marked as under repair.
Don't know what it is about this course but I can hit the smallest overhanging brach with deadly accuracy. Don't get me wrong it is not overgrown or intentionally penalizing; I just put it in the wrong place and get challenged.
Long par 3s and some long 4s and 5s as well provide a challenge over the typical diver / 9 iron courses in the area.
Overall - good value & nice facility (good restaurant)
Tee Boxes - good
Fairways - need some attention
Greens - Very good
Course is not super difficult, pace of play good, staff was nice. Good restaurant with good after golf specials.
Had a great time at San Luis Rey Downs
Course was well maintained, especially the greens which contributed to enjoyable golf. As always the Sports Bar and Grill provided for a great meal after play.
Challenging but reasonable difficulty
This is a great value for the money. Pretty busy on the weekends and can back up on the tees. Nicely maintained course, good greens.
This course has potential
Could be a great course, but the condition of the course is poor. Greens are rock hard and will not hold most shots hit into them. Fairway conditions are very poor.
Greens in pretty good shape and putt very true.
I've played this course a few times over the past 20 years and it's always been a good challenge. The layout is good and there are some tough holes as you transition from the front to the back 9. The fairways and rough are in need of attention. They have let them go so there is a lot of patchy grass and clover intermixed. The rough is really patchy!
The greens are in good shape and putt well.
My wife and I played 18 holes with a cart for less than $50 total so I'm not complaining about the value (or anything else).
Course is a fun design, but conditions were pretty bad.
The greens were in OK shape and playing SUPER fast, but the fairways and rough were hard to tell apart in some areas; there is crab grass growing all over the fairway, so regardless of where you hit, your lie may be questionable at best. I love the course and have played it more times than I can count, but they are charging as much as other courses that are in far better shape. Hopefully they get it together soon.
This course needs a good deal of maintenance, was OK 4 the money. $26
This course was just OK, but if you can get a deal maybe?
Great place to relex
I like this course because it's a long course and you need to use your driver and irions on almost every hole, which makes it like you are playing on the PGA tour, it takes about 3 1/2 to 4 hrs to play this course. It's a great value for your dollar, if you keep in the fairway you are not hitting the ball off of dirt or clumps of grass. I would recommend this course to anybody who wants to have a great day at the golf course.
Booked through Gold Now.com this course is a great deal.
We have played here 3 times in the past month and given the time of year it is in pretty good shape (February). We are booked for 2 more rounds this week. There are always groundskeepers out doing work and they are very respectful of the golfers, cutting off engines or stopping movement when they see a player setting up a shot. Price including a cart at select times of the day is excellent through Golf Now, and for the most part play moves along (at least on weekdays which is when we play) at a good pace. We have finished in as little as 3 hours 15 minuts to a maximum of around 4 hours 15 minutes. It is an easy walk, so if you like to walk - it's a good course for doing so. A cart makes it a nice relaxing easy going day of golf. Very nice staff.
Can;t beat the GolfNow internet hot deals!
Golf Shop attendant was refreshingly nice. Statred play on-time. Course play opened up after 5th hole, no waiting. Price was very good.
Lot's of brown fairways, but greens are nice.
Lot's of brown fairways, but greens are nice. Nice rate of play.
Nice course
Well kept fairways and greens. The 9th hole is very difficult. Greens are very fast. Staff is friendly. Challenging course for me.
Afterrnoon tee times are a great value
The course is well laid out with challenges on just about every hole. Keeping the ball in the fairway is a must due to old growth trees or water which line most fairways. The greens are in good shape with a moderate to fast speed. The staff in the Pro Shop and Snack Bar are very friendly and helpful, greeting us with a smile each time. Play around the course was at a nice pace with little or no waiting at the next tee. I would definately recommend this course to anyone.
Lots of trees and clear water creeks running.
The management is great. If it's slow, they let you tee off
even if your tee time is yet another 30 min.
