#17 I think this should be the signature hole. Enough balls in the lake to make it look like an Easter Basket. Lol Photo submitted by Geno7176732 on 09/27/2016

A favorite
Always enjoy playing Chapel Ridge; fair yet challenging. A good mix of moderate to challenging. New greens in good shape and putt well.
Excellent Pace of Play, Only Good Thing
The course is in OK shape, the traps have been bad for months, they are a little better now. The clubhouse has no place to get water, any beverage and the rest room had NO toilet paper. It was in the 80's and no water and no TP is unacceptable.
Bad greens and traps.
Sad the new greens just dont roll true at all. Very bumpy. Not sure why they did that but no investment In the sand traps. Most of them are hard pan. Bummer because the old greens were better.
Always a great course
This course has one of the greatest layouts. It’s in good shape and very fun to play. Pace of play was good. No waiting. Greens just needed cut as they were a little fuzzy and slow. But once they do that it will be perfect.
Great round!
Had a late afternoon tee time, got right out there and finished in around 3 hours. Greens are a little spongy but will be great in another week or so.
Overall course is in great shape for early May!
Good Track
Good course, challenging holes.
I'm hoping to move to the area soon and wanted to try out some courses to get a feel for what the area courses were like. So, while playing Keith Hills earlier in the week, one of the guys I was playing with recommended this course. I had my doubts based on the recommended score on GolfPass, but decided to give it a chance. It didn't disappoint.
The price was right. Visually, and the holes were interesting and made you think. The course was in good shape overall, but a little dry. But every course in the area was dry the week I played down in the Raleigh area. The course was fair, and good shots were rewarded. I will definitely add this to my rotation once I'm down here full-time.
My only complaint was that there was some inconsistency in the bunkers. Some were super firm, while others offered a little fluffier sand. Outside of that, no complaints.
Need To Up Your Game
Chapel Ridge has a great and scenic layout, nice amenities and a good practice area. BUT, if you're going to be charging $70-85 as a premier public course, you need to offer proper value for that price point. Brand new greens as of last year, yet on the first 14 holes they were bumpy and shaggy with a bunch of dry patches on the collars. More dirt than sand in the traps, ball washers dry, no water coolers at the spots they should be, etc. . I expect that at a $30 muni course, not here. This is nearly May and we are in-season. No excuse for any of this.
Good Round Late Friday Afternoon
I teed off late on Friday afternoon. The course seemed busy, but the place of play was very good. We only came upon the group ahead of us on the last few holes.
Conditions were very good. The greens were in very good shape, as were the fairways. We noticed that they have let some of the grass grow above ankle height around some of the bunkers and along some of the fairways. I haven't played the course in a few years, but it appears that they have cleaned out some of the trees along the fairways, making it a little easier to find errand balls,
The only complaint that I had was about the hole selections. It seemed like every pin was tucked in behind a bunker or on a slide slope. One of the guys that I played with had an uphill putt that didn't make it to the top of the hill and the ball rolled back leaving him with a longer putt than he had before!
Variable pricing
Upon check-in the first guy in our group paid. He got no receipt so he asked what was the greens fee? Answer was $48. He asked is that the senior rate as all of us are 65+. Yes was the answer. The last time we played there was less then 4 months ago, the senior rate was $35 at that time. We asked what happened to the rate? Answer was they have gone to variable pricing. Used in other business, its a method to charge higher rates at peak times and lower rates at slower times. Hey, its their business they can do whatever they want. Variable pricing is not mentioned on website. You can see varying rate on their tee time booking site. But we need mulitple tee times in a row so we always call to book tee times. Lesson learned is ask what the rate will be.
For a course still in mostly winter shape, located in Pittsboro, $48 senior rate is steep. Also, the grill was closed. There is nowhere nearby to get something to eat or drink. You would think you charge premium rate, you'd at least be able to buy a hot dog and a beer. High likely hood that are 2-3 foursomes won't return anytime soon.
Layout is great, conditions were fine for time of the year, range is nice. pace of play was good yesterday. But too many other as nice or nicer courses we can play then Chapel Ridge.
