Good Course
I made a tee time at 1:20 in order to use one of my VIP discount certificates. That made the greens fee much more palatable. I live in MA but visit my sister in San Diego a few times a year. Rancho Bernardo is close by, so I decided to play it. The course was in good shape, and the greens rolled well, although I had a really hard time reading them. There was an outing going out at the same time, so they sent us out on 13, which worked out well, as we ended up playing the round in about 3 hours. The course is not too tight or long, but there are a few hazards out there. I probably hit driver more often than I should, and that cost me some strokes, as well as my troubles on and around the greens.
San Diego treasure
Once you find the course entrance, it is a local treasure. We played a weekday round at 7:40 am and had nothing but clear sailing. Played in 3.5 hours, almost unheard of in this area. Course was in pristine condition and a very fair test of golf. Enjoy it if you get the chance!
Tee.time not honored
Did not honor our Golfnow tee time. We booked the first tee time. When we arrived and checked in at the.pro shop we we're told we had ben moved to later tee time. No apology. I expected a little better customer service from such a nice resort. It will definitely impact my decision to play there again.
Definitely worth a shot
Great track for the money. In great shape. A good amount of risk/reward shots.
Nice Gem at a San Diego resort
My wife and I had an 8:30 tee time and enjoyed a beautiful morning on the golf course. The course is well-maintained, very fair yet challenging. The toughest holes for us were #10 and #18. Staff was very friendly and offered compliments to my wife after one witnessed her approach shot on #9 as shown on the attached video.
outstanding greens, slow play
Fun layout with greens in excellent shape. Best I've played on in a while. Played on the 4th of July, so expected it to be busy. But when we got to the 2nd hole (a par 3) there where 5 groups on the hole including ours. It was a 30+ minute wait on that tee. Insane for a course of this caliber. Things didn't start to open up until the last couple of holes on the front. Despite the brutally slow pace of play it was a fun day and I will definitely play there again. Just not on a holiday!
Good course but bad service
Course was good. The staff was rude and botched my time then tried to charge me more money.
Great Course - Great People
This is an excellent golf course. Challenging enough but not too much. Great friendly staff. Beautiful setting.
Great layout in the mountains
Very enjoyable round.
The fairways have brown patches due to winter conditions. The greens are great with shuttle breaks. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Great layout bad pace
I thought the layout was really good, course conditions the same however the peace of play was reaaly slow. There were no apparent rangers trying to move things along. My opinion is the starters did not do a good job managing combining less than 4 some going off which comlicated things. The 2 some in font of us gave up after 12 holes. I will go back but will mention my concerns to the pro shop.
Really nice resort
My friends and I played this course for the first time and really enjoyed the course and the resort. It was easy to find off the 15 freeway and the walk from the parking lot to the pro shop took you by the nice landscape and restaurant.
The staff checked us in and we started our round about 15 beyond our tee time as we were pushed back for a scramble tournament that was still playing through the first hole. The tournament was with, what appeared to be, Super Seniors who moved very slowly and slowed things down quite a bit but we managed.
The course was in amazing shape and though the greens had a little bit of sand on them, they rolled pretty quick and the sand did not appear to affect our putts. Only we affected our putts!!!
Though you were close to the interstate, you could not hear any of the road noise. But, you were close to the Miramar Air Station and there were several flights of F-18's that flew over and they were REALLY LOUD but it was actually pretty cool to look up and see them fly in formation.
I would definitely recommend having something to eat at the restaurant after your round. The service was really good, friendly and the food was spectacular.
A good course in general, but not really a truly memorable one considering the price that you pay. You would be able to get a fair deal from GolfNow and I would say the price is on the high side of what you get for the course. Course is in good shape, my only compliant is that the greens could have been in better shape since they have a lot of ball marks, but they still generally roll true.
bugs
to many bugs .............. never.....no more game again..
