Good course
Could not have asked for a better course at a great price.
Will be playing again
Great - but wet
Great course
Fairways / Greens / T boxes all great
Course doesn’t drain great so I would not recommend playing the day after it has rained. Wasn’t bad but a lot of very soft ground areas
But highly recommend
Wonderful course
Always a joy to play here
Worth the trip
Live in Raleigh so it’s about an hour and 15 min drive but the course is well worth it
The general layout is challenging (big boy par 4’s!) from the blues with plush fairways and fast greens (Bermuda) with subtle breaks. 3 1/2 hr round on a beautiful Sunday at 12:15.
What more can you ask for?
Great track
Just a great track to play. I wish I lived closer. Course conditions are great ,layout has some risk reward holes and very fun to play. Superintendent and staff should be congratulated too. I’ll be back soon and with more friends.
Good course for area
Course is good for area where there is not a lot of options. Seems to be managed well and kept up. Provides several holes that require you to shape you tee shot. Relatively wide fairways. Blind shots with several lay ups. Bombers can have fun on short par 4s. Some water holes. Greens receptive and not browned out in 100* temps.
Front may have been made earlier, not sure. BACK NOT FOR WALKING. HAVE TO GO AWAYS TO GET TO SOME OF THE TEES.
good layout, nice views
Liked Course, very pleasing views .Greens were aerated recently and fairways thin in spots which took away a better rating.
Excellent design for all hcp levels
As a high-handicapper senior, the thing that struck me the most was that the tee positions were really well thought out at all five levels. I didn't feel that the gold tees (5400) were an afterthought, the amount of distance and approach angle taken off from white to gold and gold to red was well designed.
The course was in really good shape except that the greens had been punched a few weeks ago and were slow and you could still see the sand, but they were holding well and rolling true. Pace of play as an early Tuesday single was a snappy 3 hours on the nose. I didn't really check out the clubhouse or restaurant.
In A Class By Itself
I booked this course as a way to squeeze another round of golf in at the tail end of a Myrtle Beach golf trip for myself and a friend. I was able to find a fantastic deal on GolfNow and we added this course as a way to break up the 5 hour drive from MB to Richmond, VA (it’s about 3.5 hours from the beach and 1.5 hours from RVA). Thankfully, the pro shop manager helped us out because the weather leaving the beach at 8am was horrible and a nasty crash near the NC/SC border on I-95 resulted in us being about an hour late for our prepaid tee time. He was kind enough to reschedule us without incurring any extra fees or hassle- that’s customer service done above and beyond, and it was incredibly appreciated!
Onto the course, well I have to say that the 4.7 star average this course has accumulated here is very true and well-earned. The course was gorgeous: plush and green at every turn. Soft tee boxes and fresh cut, lined fairways with very true-rolling greens await you. There were 2-3 greens that had just been aerated, but the rest were near perfect. There was even plenty of white sand In every bunker if you choose to play from them (we were being very Covid-19 aware and pulling the ball out to avoid having to rake, and well, maybe to help pad the scorecard). Speaking of difficulty, the course is a bit hilly, but still accessible and pretty forgiving if you make a bad shot here and there. A few dogleg holes force you to club down and do some shot shaping, but there’s not much else when it comes to hazards. Water holes are mainly around the Par 3’s and make them quite scenic to stop and take a look or picture at.
Overall, between the staff generosity and friendliness, excellent conditions and ease of access (it’s on the main road and only about 4 miles off of the interstate at the Rocky Mount, NC exit) this course has been added to our short list of places to play on the way home from a MB or Pinehearst trip for us. It really is a must play for the region. The only negative thing we experienced was that our golf cart must’ve been set on the slowest speed setting available and it probably added 15-20 minutes to our pace. Maybe we had a bad cart, who knows, but it did annoy us as the round progressed and the afternoon showers caught us on the back nine. Speed those things up Belmont, please.
Do yourself a favor and stop for a round here if you’re going to or coming from a golf getaway nearby- you will not be disappointed because it’s a great track. PS- bring some insect repellent for the front nine.
Perfect
This course is in such great shape. From tee boxes to fairways, rough and greens, this course is in the best condition of any course I have ever played. My foursome had the 8:22am tee time. We played a relaxed round of 3h55min. We were never held up or pushed. Highly recommend this course.
Well maintained.
The greens are very firm, expect very few ball marks and the ball to run out quite a bit. They are still true, and the fairway is in great shape. A bit pricey but best course (on Golfnow) in a 45 miles radius.
Great mix of difficulty and ease
Many holes are protected by difficult bunkers, then you run into about 3 par 4’s that dare you to attempt to drive them. If you struggle with a slice, bring many balls. The greens seemed slow and probably needed watering to recover more quickly from the aeration that I understand occurred late April or early May. I would not recommend walking the course as there are some lengthy gaps between a few holes. Overall, great balance of good conditions, difficulty level and value.
Worth a visit
Played twice now during the growing season so not prime condition but you can see greens are excellent Potential and tees decent condition. Would imagine fairways have more growth but for now a little sparse. back 9 much stronger than front with need to shape shots both ways. Not long but Really decent challenge with greens being the best defense.
Staff have always been super friendly and look forward to going back regularly
Hidden Gem
Fantastic layout ! Great mix of holes ! Great pace of play !
The food and beverage manager Melissa was super nice !
Course needs 2-3 weeks to be in outstanding shape !
Excellent Greens
Hadn't been to Belmont in 3 years. Bermuda greens are excellent.....not too fast/rolling true. The fairways are starting to fill in.....the best condition I've played since Dec. Course layout is fun and fair.....good mix of doglegs and scenic par 3's. A bit of a drive from N. Raleigh but worth every minute of it!
Very Nice!!!
Course was in great condition. Tee boxes, fairways and greens. It was worth the drive from Raleigh area. No question I will play again
