An Absolute Gem
What a challenging opening hole. This is the "longest" 360m par 4 you will ever play. Not even the longest hitters try to take on the carry and the uphill 2nd shot is longer than it looks. And things just improve from there.
The layout dictates that you play in carts, but it also means you have a feeling of there being no-one else on the course. The commute to the 2nd hole puts some space between you and the group behind and you often don't see them again for the remainder of the round.
The undulations and the setting make this one of golf's most impressive experiences. Take on the pot on hole 2, but only if you trust your driver. The reward is there, but right is into the trees and left takes you down the slope and your 2nd shot is then again, straight up hill a lot further than you'd like.
The 3rd is a longish downhill par 3 with a bunker right and everything else sloping down to the left that visually looks tough to land on the green. But the grain of the putting surface helps here and it's not as tough a shot as it appears.
I could literally go through every hole, but won't. I'll summarize by saying that 15 is without a doubt my favourite hole. A blind tee shot where most won't (or at least, shouldn't) take driver and then a water carry into the green is a brilliant mix. And then, the combination of the 17th (par 3 water carry) and 18th (par 5 with a distinct "do you want to take me on" feel to it) finish is something else.
Simply a brilliant golf course.
