great golf course
Golf Enthusiasts.
Sweetwater CC is a great, old school golf course. It has one of the best layouts in Orlando. This golf course will make you use every club in your bag, always a sign of a good golf course. The par 3's are particularly challenging. I will be back soon!
Fairways and Greens,
Mike
Designed by a amateur
The front 9 is one of the worst layouts i’ve ever played. Greens need some work and not worth anything over $30.
Do not play here
Just poor in every aspect, greens are bad, everything is in poor shape, 6th hole green looked like they dug a ditch and left it
Nice
Tee boxes could be better, but the greens were decent and rolled smooth. You need a code to get through the gate to get to the course. Had to call the course for the code. They told me it was on the bottom of the email you get from golfnow, but it wasn't.
Haven't played it since they went from private to public again. New layout has a couple of quirky holes that are really close to homes. Hole 9 for example....I'm surprised they don't have more broken windows. I like the back nine better, especially hole 11, beautiful looking fun hole to play.
Hoping for greater things!
The course is in a rebuild and you have to understand that going in. Layout is nice and that is with 2 hole changes that just happened. Only concern is two of the holes -- #1 & #9 are very close to houses and they will get hit which is crazy if I was the homeowner. Would recommend this course right now as a way to get out and play a round to keep in tune with your game but not for score. The greens and newish so have not been cut short and rolled so irregular rolls.. The fairway is coming back. Crazy but no rakes in the sandtraps or on the carts so sand is in rough shape. Still thinking this can be restored to its former glory and would play it again!
It ready for prime time !!
I played Sweetwater 15 years ago - it was better then. Since the new construction they are struggling to provide a good course but it’s just not ready for play. There’s little grass on the fairways or greens and the entire course needs reworking for ease of play and even finding the next hole. The clubhouse is gorgeous but the bar is only beer and wine and the kitchen isn’t in operation yet. It’s just not ready!!
It Ready for Prime Time!
They are rebuilding at Sweetwater. They do not have a golf course architect - the course superintendent is instituting the changes. Many holes are beyond the reach for most women -even from the front tees. The layout is too haphazard - back and forth - you can’t find the tee block easily. The course is primarily poiana - not grass. They need more work and more time. The club house is stunning but not in operation yet. No liquor - no food. However it should be terrific when it’s ready.
I’ll try the course in a year or so.
Tee boxes need a little TLC but like the greens lots of seed down just waiting for a good watering. Fairways not too bad, for the price we had a good time some holes very pretty. We are in Florida for another couple of weeks we will certainly go back
Good course... Great Staff
As long as the price is right its a good play. Greens need work
Semi Private
Lived in Orlando most of my life and always wanted to play it. I'm 67. Got my chance with a buddy from Canada on Golf Now.
Great deal...course played out well and never saw another golfer. Kind of eerie. Middle of the week so who knows why. Regardless...great for us! DEFINATELY want to play again before my buddy goes back to Canada the end of April.
Thanks SCC for a great round and checking it off my course list!!
Sweetwater
The gentleman at the “pro shop” was very pleasant and professional. That is the only positive thing I can say. We played 5 holes and left.
improving
needs work as does most things in this economy but will come back in a couple
months and see how it has progressed.
Greens and traps need work
Greens overall were pretty good except for a couple with a few bare spots. Sand traps were terrible and no work has been done and no rakes to fix after you are done. A couple tee boxes were all sand. I like the layout, but before you play ask the clubhouse about #6. It used to be Par 3, but after teeing off to what used to be the green we realized the green had been moved back to a place where it was basically unplayable. No one mentioned this when we checked in.
This course has great features
This golf course has a nice layout with varied hole designs. Houses are VERY close to the golf course in spots and the green structures were very inconsistent - turf was dead in a lot of places and very bumpy in spots. But despite the greens, the course was a lot of fun to play.
