Great condition and Value for money!
Overall I thought the course was in fantastic order. The Greens and fairways were as close to perfection as you can get for this time of year. There was a few of the Higher holes in which the fairways had a bit of surface water and a few on the Parkland side of the course also but all in all I would highly recommend the course to anyone. Staff and residents are all top class also and very accommodating. I will definitely be back again over the summer months to give it another go, thanks
Winter at Ballycastle
Stunning course that was in great shape holes 6-18 were open and playable even though most courses remain closed
Pro very friendly and helpful
Course
Unreal experience. Been wanting to play this course for years. To say it exceeded expectations is an under estimation. Cant wait to play it again..
A wonderful setting for an interesting golf course
My wife and I played this course on a beautiful early Summer afternoon which suited us perfectly. There were not many other golfers ahead of us, but those whom we did meet were friendly and helpful. The course as reported elsewhere is in three distinct phases - a parkland section of fairly demanding longer holes to begin, then over the road to the coastal strip and some lovely links holes climbing up the cliffs, before the second half is predominantly downland golf with some less interesting holes to return to the clubhouse. However, the 17th and 18th are two great finishing holes, especially if your match is on the line!
Astonishing quality of really dry greens for time of year and lovely fairways everywhere. The 10th is an astonishing hole with a raised tee box with dramatic 360 degree views, but then an upward shot to a green which must be another 40 feet higher at least over a chasm.
Pro (Damian) was immensely helpful in getting us on the course and with advice.
We will definitely come back for more, but you probably need to pick a day without extreme winds to enjoy the experience fully.
Quirky Fun
Really good fun, quirky course with a mix of parkland/links holes.
Unbelievable views and in great condition for early season. Would definitely recommend and will return
Great setup
Lovely course, well setup and really enjoyed it for 1st time playing the course. Greatest compliment I can give is that I will be back again to play it again soon.
Good condition for early April
I thought that the course was in good condition for early April. There were some very wet areas in the first 5 holes which are near the river. The rest of the course is more free draining. Greens and bunkers were well maintained.
I was lucky to play on a fairly calm day as most of the course is very exposed to wind.
I was not able to use the single practice net to warm up before my game because of some group using the area near the first tee. They probably should have another net beside the clubhouse.
Hidden gem
Course was in a good condition given that most other courses were closed round the country
Worth the drive
Very friendly , helpful and informative pro shop staff. Explained why we started on 6th tee . No issue . Enjoyed the round , and getting to see a new course . Even though it was about 89 min drive for me.
Stunning views, was dry but very windy on top of hill/dunes but that adds to the challenge . Course good for time of year. Always think every course could add a few extra ‘next tee’ markers for visitors , but was able to find our way OK. was asked a few times for directions by other visitors. Liked the mix of parkland and links. Would like to play again in summer . Only complaint is pricing £30 ok but £5 cheaper if I could have arranged a fourball, bit mean. Club house not open for a beverage after round but understandable on quiet Monday afternoon.
Strange
Nice little course but not worth the money they are charging. Couple of quirky holes but not a great links experience.
Ballycastle
Great course in great condition. Fantastic scenery coupled with challenging holes, and wind adding to the challenge. Good day out
Must try course
Great course and no winter mats even in February. The greens and fairways were in great condition for the time of year and the pro was very friendly.
One of my favourite courses
Great course in great condition given the weather this past few weeks! If you can play well here you will play well anywhere.
Also, great to see a friendly face in Ron, good to catch up with you!
