Not worth the trip
I played this course because of the good reviews on Golfnow. However the tee boxes were in poor conditions. Fairways had multiple patches of dirt. Greens were in good condition. This course is designed for the average golfer straight fairways not much challenge. On top of this I was teamed up with a moron who kept drinking beer, burping, eating sunflower seed and throwing the shelle everywhere and finally throwing his golf clubs all over the place. Atypical moron. If you are serious about golf, i would not recommend this course. Will not return.
nice deal
had played once before and able to breeze thru again, gave up 2 holes w/ 5 somes but worth it play as I liked ...finally on golf now well worth the trip and a "hot deal" makes it that much better ...Ross design, w/o the "extreme" green drop-offs seen on the pet courses, but still, plenty of challenge ! courteous and helpful staff, it seems to be a dedicated crew of locals who play most of the time...you'll see why !
Hidden Gem!
This is a wonderful course. Played it for the first time. The greens are so nice. Fairway grass was a little tight. Tee boxes were great. Absolutely loved the layout. Definitely will play again.
Fantastic golf and restaurant
We found this course in wonderful shape and the employees were very personable. After golf we enjoyed eating in their restaurant which was beautiful and the food was great. All services were beyond our expectations. After being so disappointed in other courses in Highlands County this course sure shined. We definitely plan on making the drive from Springlake to enjoy golfing on this course again.
Hidden Gem
Nice old Donald Ross course, well maintained and offers solid greens and a good balance of pin positions and very playable fairways. Fairways are wide but rough is tough and hard to get to the ball as ball goes to the bottom. Everything is in front of you and lots of tee choices for every skill level and age.
Overall a real nice experience and we will be back again.
must play ..donald ross classic..loved the greens 3 tier
Three tier greens... classic Donald Ross course... good round.. good shape..
Wow - excellent value and great greens
Showed up as a single without a tee time on a Sunday morning at 7:15. Lots of players lined up on the tee box, but Tom in the pro shop quickly assessed the situation and paired me with a threesome on the tee box. The course is mostly straight holes and has deep rough. The greens were excellent and the course was a lot of fun to play. Done in 3 1/2 hours and beat the rain for only $18. Best value in the area - those greens are as good as courses charging 2-3 times as much. Will definitely be back - great staff, old school Donald Ross course, good course conditions with excellent greens, and an unbelievable price on a Sunday morning. Winner winner chicken dinner.
Not worth playing right now
Played this week and the rate has gone up since 2 weeks ago when we were paying summer rates.
Charged us $24 and not worth it. Due to the rain, hole 13 is closed, have to stay on cart path some holes, recently top dressed the greens. So wiping the sand of the ball before putting is no use! It will just pick up more sand while rolling, Which made puts slow. Golf is suppose to be enjoyable, this wasn't ! Oh yeah workers haven't a clue about etiquette either, drive right past green as you putt and wave to you! Tell Joe in club house about this review! He might make a change, but doubt it!
Oranges and Fog
Nice old gem just outside Sebring. Played this course twice while in Florida and enjoyed both times. Beware of early morning fog. Couldn't see the greens for the first 6 holes which added to the challenge.
Donald Ross designed.
11:00 AM Tee time w/ wife. Course in good condition. Set in subdivision. Greens fairly fast. Fairways carpeted. Roughs are rough making it slow to find errant balls @ times. Great old course built in 1920's that's still fun to play. Will return to play it again if course continues to offer hot deal prices through one of golf sites.
