Getting Better...
I stayed away from this course for most of the season because of some bad experiences last year and poor reviews this year. I played it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was in much better shape than the reviews made it out to be. Played again today and it was even better this time.
The greens are in great shape. The are running just a touch slow, but are in pristine shape. The tee boxes and bunkers were ok too. There are a couple of fairways that look like they burned out at one point, but are on their way to recovery. Not quite as nice as say a Candler Hills or Twisted Oaks, but in much better shape than Spruce Creek.
Maybe the biggest perk is that the course isn't overbooked like some in the area. Last weekend I played Royal Oaks and it took 4.5 hours, this weekend I finished in 2.5 at Highland Hills.
That said, I do have two complaints that I hope the staff fix in the near future...
- The practice green is horrible. It's in worse shape than any fairway on the course. Shaggy and full of weeds. The good news is that its nothing like the rest of the greens... but the point of a practice green is have it be indicative of the rest of the course.
- They only have 3 tees out. For some reason they've decided not to put out the blue tees. The cards have them listed, the signs have them listed, and they are keeping up what look like the blue tee boxes, but for some reason they just don't put out the markers. Long hitters should probably stay away until they fix this over-site
Would give the course 3.5 stars if golfnow allowed it..
Golf course????
You need a vivid imagination to call this a golf course. Hopefully Dix will develop into a gated community
Worse course ever
Without a doubt this course lacks any kind of course management. The greens are nothing but dirt , the fairways and tee boxes are no better. I will never play there again even if they paid me!!
No way jose
While all the courses in the area are in great shape because of all the recent rain, Pine Ridge appears to be putting the least amount of effort to keep the course in a playable condition. The greens are the main complaint. 80 percent of the greens look like a bomb went off in the middle with large sand filled craters and no grass in them making it impossible to have a putt roll in any type of normal manner. My group quit after 9 holes and went to Brentwood Farms golf course which looks like a gem compared to this dusty dog track. I won’t be back. It would not surprise me to see this course close.
Good value
Frankly the greens are a mess right now. The tee boxes are only slightly better. The fairways were in good shape. For a longer course I think it is an excellent value, offering a good mix of easier and harder holes, wider and more narrow fairways, some interesting sand trap layouts, but if you are a very good golfer looking for optimal conditions, this may not be the course for you. The conditions of the greens will drive you insane. For duffers like myself, I think it's an excellent option.
No grass
Tee boxes and greens were in terrible condition. Fairways are getting better since the last time I played here.
Greens
These were the worst greens I have ever played on. Grass on the fairways was very sparse. Tees were uneven and dug up. All in all not a very nice course.
Tough mother!
The back nine needs a lot of work particularly the fairways! This is one tough layout with a good amount of elevation changes and small greens
Great day for golf
First time at course - we had a great round. Price was great for course conditions. Great restaurant and friendly staff.
worst course
No problem with booking. The course is in the worst condition a golf course could be. My friends and I will never play there again. Sorry I didn't take pictures.
Sorry
Staff very nice but the course from tee boxes to including greens were terrible. I won’t play it again this year. I hope
the new management can make it back to a golf course. Sorry!
Not Up to Par
I wish that I could write a good review but I just can't. This course is in very poor condition. The greens are patched with sod, bare spots and white sand on most. It is impossible to make putts even within a couple of feet. The fairways are not much better than the greens. There are many bare areas. Bottom line - don't waste your time or money at any price at this time.
Pine Ridge golf course Beverly Hills
The fairways were awful the greens had grass in about 50% of the greens and I couldn’t call it grass either hard packed dirt you could not putt your ball straight it would deflect off all the bad grass and humps would NOT ever go back don’t waste your money
greens
Spoke to owner Jerry in clubhouse about poor greens, and he said he will hire new group soon to improve the course, especially the greens. I hope so, as I have played when the greens were nice, in the past.
Unplayable
This could be a top course in view of its Nice lay-out. However both fairways and greens were in a horrible state.
We had returned after a round last year, to see if the course was in better shape, but unfortunately not the case. Not suitable for serious golf.
