Excellent course
Feel a little harsh giving the course conditions 4 as given the rain we've had recently, the fact it was even playable is testament to the course and its keepers! Loved the course, really looking forward to going back in drier conditions. A few hills to navigate, but the scenery from some is worth it! Good mix between short and long holes. Challenging, but not too difficult. Staff in the office very friendly and welcoming.
Bangor not enjoyable
18 temporary greens, some just OK but most abysma. No mention of the temporary greens on golf now. After travelling 30 miles lt was a real disappointment.
Good variety of holes in great condition
Quite a hilly and quirky classic Braid course with a good variety of holes. Tough 5th hole was a personal favourite - a good drive tight down the right side suddenly opens the hole up and you can see where you're going.
Greens receptive but not soft and with good pace. Rest of the course was in very good condition with plenty of grass on fairways and fair rough although tees perhaps a little long. Played late on a Tues and the course was very quiet with just a couple of groups of ladies out ahead (it was ladies day) - one group very kindly let me through inside a couple of holes but sadly the other despite having nobody in front of themvchose not to, even when (for every hole on the back 9) they were still teeing off when I reached the same tee. Lovely course and an absolute bargain but a shame when (some) members behave in such a way.
Easy on the eye and good for the game
I have played this course several times and it is the easiest on the eye with nice views of the sea as well as having a suitable degree of difficulty and opportunity for me a 28 handicap player
Brilliant Course
Brilliant Course and will definitely play again. Holes have a great layout to them and are pretty forgiving unless you get it completely wrong.
Slow play was an issue, although we were let through by a group of ladies we then caught up on another two groups and then we're waiting for at least five minutes on a couple of holes.
Overall it was a great experience and I'll be back
Lovely Course
The course was in a lovely condition and gave me a lovely varied game. Staff and members were very friendly as well. A lovely mornings golf.
Staff
The staff were extremely helpful examples by the following incident
There were 2 members of staff cutting the fairways on tractors.
I played my shot and stupidly left the iron I chose not to use in the rough
The course manager who was on the tractor cutting the grass ran over my club and ruptured it
He came to me and said take it to the professional and we will cover the costs - this even though I was stupid enough to leave it there
I left it with the pro who rang back later and said it was not possible to repair it but he has a 6 iron which he gave me FOC.
As I say staff friendly and helpful
Bangor
Played at 8.30 am. Course was in great condition, some work being carried out on greens, but didn't interfere with play. Quite a forgiving course and greens were very true and ran well. Will most certainly be back again.
Bangor Golf Club
It's a very good course on a good day can get a bit wet underfoot if any rain. Played early morning there was dew on the greens could have done with green keepers clearing this. The greens are excellent otherwise. Would recommend playing this course.
Wonderful condition
We were amazed at the course condition. After torrential rain the previous day. The staff have the course in the best condition I’ve ever seen. The greens especially were fantastic. Great weather made this a very enjoyable experience.
Wonderful Course
Very nicely manicured, not a blade of grass out of place. I played it all the way back and while its not an overly long golf course, the long walks to the back tees and small and guarded tee boxes are intimidating.
While other courses in county Down are more challenging, this is the type of course I would become a member of.
