Not 1 for the winter
I found this course in terrible condition. Really wet underfoot in fact I slipped on 2 occasions and that was with wearing plastic spike's. Tee boxes greens or fairway had not been cut for at least a week and pace of play was so slow took me just short of 4 hours for the round on my own. Won't be rushing back.
Gem in Clandeboye estate
The drive into the Blackwood, along a winding tree lined road sets the scene. Every hole provides a new and interesting challenge. The 3rd, 6th and 17th being my favourites, reachable par five to finish. Great course, beware the roughs tough! Great facilities too. Driving range, short game area, Resturaunt and an extensive pro shop.
Great course
Course is well maintained and the greens in particular were excellent. I would like to play again now I know the layout.
Busy course
Particularly busy and only 6 mins between tee times, but course in good condition. Long walk between 9th and 10th
Decent course in decent condition - could do with updating signage
I have played this course many times over the years (used to be a member way back). We set up for the 1st tee after checking in (little to no communication on checking in). The large sign is still on the wall pointing to the 1st tee for Hamilton and the smaller course. When we arrived (3-5 min walk to the 1st) the 1st was marked as the 10th hole! Long walk back and headed to the old 10th which is now the 1st. Now I've played it, I see they have swapped the 9's round. It would have been nice to be told this and it would be useful to remove that large sign still pointing to the old 1st hole which is now the 10th!! Anyone new or someone who has not played for years here will be heading the wrong direction - tell them for goodness sake!!!!
Apart from this, the course was in nice condition for a public course. It always was a good layout of varied holes and a fair challenge. I would be happy to play this again soon.
Good course worth visiting
Enjoyed the layout and the greens are in great shape. A bit firm and tough to hold them with the contours but a great challenge too.
Tough tee shots and punishing rough.. But that's what good golf should be :)
Good course, slow play
Good course to get started for the season, tee times are very close together and slow play causing a backup of 3 groups at par 3’s at times. Witnessed a player spend 15 mins searching for a ball in the hedges while 3 groups were waiting to tee off behind.
Nice to be back
Course was quite damp but generally played well given tge time of year. Greens a little disappointing given easter weekend, though aware the weather hasn't helped. The one big negative was the guy in the pro shop. Trying to get him to answer a question was impossible, and what little advice he did give was wrong or off topic. Very frustrating. Also noted lack of directions between 9th and 10th tee which is not ideal for visitors.
Great course and excellent condition
Me and my cousin played this course for the first time and it was in excellent condition for the time of year. Only thing was they didnt advertise the front 9 holes were closed and we could only play the back 9, but we just went around twice and we had a great day out. We will definetely be back to try the whole course because every hole was a different challenge and very enjoyable.
Good Course
Course in good condition considering the weather the last few months. Great challenge both times I’ve played in winter conditions 1st in March then in December. Back 9 from last week time is now the front 9 and the score cards need updated to reflect this. Toptracer range to warm up is what every course needs.
Shockingly bad time management buy the course
Shocking way to plan a day's tee times first time playing at the course to arrive 4 deep at the first tee. Tee off 24 minutes after our tee time was not a great start to follow groups of slow play took just over 1 hour 30 minutes to play 4 holes had to walk off the course with no way of getting our money back I would take them off this app the guy in the pro shop couldn't find my booking at first then asked if I was playing on my own when I had booked for 2 people won't be back and would tell people to stay clear on a good day
Brilliant Blackwood
Lovely day out at Blackwood. We had a 3:28 tee off on Saturday but the pro in the shop let us go 10 minutes early. Thanks. The course was in incredible condition, especially the greens. Had a really nice day out with my son and will definitely be playing again.
Winter
For a winter round of golf the course was in very good condition. Two temporary greens but that was fine as work was being done around proper green. And they used the larger size holes for temp greens.
Blackwood
Only 9 holes open however still charged full price. The course should have been closed as it was largely waterlogged.
