Do not play this course, it’s dangerous and poorly looked after.
Do not play this course, it’s dangerous and poorly looked after.
I say this because the fairways are not mowed properly and the ruts on the fairways are deep and you cannot see them until you are on top of them because of the grass length on the fairway
You will destroy your clubs from the ground along the fairways, they have a club length move but you need to move your ball a metre at least to find any grass
Fun course
Really fun course to play, absolutely love the 4th and 8th!
Mixed bag
The course is having changes made to it; these are documented with notices on the course. Unfortunately, for those of us who have never played there before, these are very unclear. Generally it would be helpful to have the direction to the next t-box indicated next to the green as the course layout is not always easy to understand.
The greens were very good and apart from where work is being carried out, the fairways are quite decent.
You pay for what you get
Pine Rivers is a very good value for money course. For $33 I could book 18 holes walking which is really good value for South East Queensland courses.
Unfortunately the course was in pretty average condition. A lot of the fairway had “goat tracks” hard dusty ground, not a lot of flush grassy fairways to hit from.
The pace was also very slow. Late teeing off and qued / waited for the first 8 holes. The course also had a couple holes under regulation for upgrades.
Overall a 3/5 star rating
Wasn’t even open
We showed up at 445 for our 502 tee time and there was no staff to be found. Other golfers turned up and waited but we left at 515 when there was still no staff there. Rather disappointing morning
Very disappointed would not recommend
Have driven past this course many times whilst travelling in QLD. My husband and I are very keen golfers.
We’ll staff and other golfers were very friendly but that’s the only two positives.
2 holes were closed with temporary holes were in play. Fairways were in shocking condition lots of bare patches, unbelievably long grass, rough grass was shorter than the fairway. Hard to tell where fairway started and stopped. Toilet on course was disgustingly filthy. Bunkers were like cement, so solid that you didn’t leave a footprint ( only in 2) Both played well but seriously not worth the money. In need of sooo much work, very run down, should be closed down till work is finished. Do not recommend at all. So disappointed.
Relaxed pace, no rude golfers, upgrades to course underway.
I am new to golf and have played only a few times. I have found some golfers at other courses to be rude, arrogant and bullying despite my standing aside and letting the majority of them play through. On the other hand I found Pine Rivers to be relaxed and enjoyable despite having 2 large social groups playing on the day that we went. I think the attitude of the golfers probably reflect the attitude of the course. There is quite a bit of maintenance underway so there are some minor disruptions to the course but that just adds to the challenge of the course and I think this incovenience is reflected in the price. I am happy to recommend this course to my friends and family. I see a previous review complained about the course being awful. with horrible, uneven tee boxes that hardly had any grass on them with most of the fairways in disrepair with most shots played from the fairway being on hard dirt. I can only say that this was not my experience however my limited experience may mean that I am less critical off the course because my expectations are under-developed.
All in all, I was pleased with my experience both with the course and the staff as well as the friendly disposition of other golfers on the course and so I will be back there again.
Disappointed
I’ve driven past Pine Rivers many times in the past and had always thought it looked nice. My father in law and I play regularly and have played most of the courses on the north side of Brisbane. As he lives close by, we thought we’d tick it off our list.
Unfortunately the course did not live up to expectations. With the exception of the greens, which were nice, fast and in relatively ok shape, the rest of the course was awful. Horrible, uneven tee boxes that hardly had any grass on them and most of the fairways had fallen into disrepair. Most shots played from the fairway, were off hard dirt. This course needs a ton of work to get it to a place that would make it remotely worth playing again.
The highlight of day was the nice lady in the snack bar.
