Very slow play
Course in fantastic condition. Very slow play though. 4 balls would not let 2 balls play through . 5 hours for a 2 ball, waiting 10 mins at each tee box. Course over booked I think.!!
Lovely course in very good condition
Played for the first time and we all very much enjoyed it. Condition of the course was very good - lovely consistent greens. Felt the bunkers could do with some sand in them - very compacted and shallow.
Relatively wide open course and although all of our 4 ball ranged from mid-high caps no balls where lost. This, I feel helped all our 4 to score in the mid/high 30's in Stableford format, despite not knowing the course.
Staff very friendly and we enjoyed some food and beverages afterwards. Would not hesitate to return.
Good test of golf
First time I played this course I rated it as ok, ive just played it for the second time, years on and WOW, tee boxes, fairways, greens and bunkers where immaculate!! Course layout was challenging but enjoyable, we where lucky to get sunshine and no wind which made it more enjoyable. All I can say is if you like a challenge and a good test of golf play Kilkeel!!
Always enjoy
Our 4th time.olaying Kilkeel and once again we love this course, unfortunately we have never played it when it has had a decent amount of dry weather. We showed up knowing the forecast was not good. Arrives to quite a downpour it did ease had a drizzle for first 3 holes then dry ended up with shirt sleeves and sunshine. Tight course greens although had a good soaking where in good condition. Have to say the 18th is one of our favorite finishing holes around.
Like to thank one.of.the.local members who helped me fix my umbrella holder on my cart. And the lady in the shop is always so nice and helpful. We will be back.
Mature, pretty course
3rd time we have played here. Always enjoy the course. It was wet today and 2 holes were closed they let me know that before we travelled up. Even with the rain fairways and greens where in good shape. 4 ball in front were very slow and really should have been told to speed up. Local golfers and we where told they are always slow. But we did enjoy our round. Stay out of the trees which line the course and add for some great settings. The 18th is one of my favorite last holes in northern ireland. Great value and we will be back again
Great Course shame about the weather.
Despite some of worse conditions I have ever played in this is an impressive course and will return some summers day. Could not even see the mountains. Just nearly got finished before dark but still enjoyable day.
Great course
Excellent value for money. Greens were spiked the only downfall ruined it slightly but 100% be back next year when hopefully greens are good.
Nice course
Weather was amazing the Sunday we played. Course in immaculate condition and has some beautiful approach shots. Testing course. We booked again to play in a few weeks. Quality!
Restaurant closed atm though, assume due to COVID-19. Headed into warrenpoint afterwards for food so no issue.
Great Little Trek
One of my favourite NI courses... Almost 100 year old course, Not the longest but not short either. Some very tricky drives.. and tough enough to score on.
Some really good holes...
- 1 (Par 5. you need to be brave and cut the corner)
- 5 (Driveable par 4, but easy to lose a ball
- 6 (Par 5, tough drive, then into a raised green)
- 7 (Par 4, tough drive, need to cut the corner)
- 13 Really Picturesque long 4
- 14, SI1 - honestly I don't know how to lay this and Im a single figure golfer
Hidden gem
Course layout was very good. Every hole is different and all have great character. Some are long and narrow , others are long and wide. Suits all players. Course condition was good With good pace greens. £15 from GolfNow ...well worth the visit
