Great morning s golf
Course was in excellent condition, greens 1st class and fairways, sun was out got a win. Great Sunday
True Links
As the title suggests. This is a proper test of links golf. Recent weather has the fairways a Coffee colour and running faster than linford Christie. Greens are superb. Despite the rest of the course really bouncy the greens are receptive and pure. Don’t be put off by it being a par 69. Any under par score is commendable. Staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to help. Food and bar prices are great value and as is the price of green fees. Membership for full member under £600 for 12 months guaranteed golf or they have a winter membership which is unreal price at £230. !!!!
Hidden gem
I play Kirkistown every year at xmas with our society. It is always in super condition and the greens are a joy to putt on.
I got the opportunity to play the links a few days ago and was very impressed with the total package. On arrival the pro was friendly and helpful, the course was in great order, especially the greens and after the golf, we all a had a golfers fry, which I would highly recommend. We have already booked to come in August.
Fantastic course and staff.
Play here a few times over the years and have to say what a fine links course. Greens are true all year round, never closed with the wet weather (like some mucky treks!!!) Great views, great holes 1 to 18. Tough test of skill but easy walked in well under 4 hrs. Professional is an absolute Star, couldn’t do enough. Bar & food well stocked, friendly staff all round clubhouse. Can’t wait to get back soon!!!
Gem
I had heard good things about Kirkistown many times over the years and it did not disappoint. Simply a great golf coure. It's not the most dramatic or spectacular of courses (I'm maybe unfairly picturing some of our great coastal links courses) but make no mistake this is a very enjoyable fair test of golf. If the winds up its a challenge if the day is calm your in for a real treat
and hopefully a respectable card.
Golf now rocks!! Go have fun.
Very impressed
The course was fantastic. The wind made the course very difficult. But once it calmed. Was a good challenge. In great condition considering winter this year.
Great Alternative to wet Belfast Courses
Not my first time playing down at Kirkistown Castle and won't be my last.
After humfing around on wet city courses all winter, I decided to fir down to Kirkistown knowing it would be much better underfoot. I wasn't disappointed. Course was in superb order. Full tees were back on and the greens were a pleasure to put on.
The course never disappoints to be fair, but after such a long winter, it was class to play on a dry course. If you haven't played the course before, then don't wait.
Professional shop was well stocked and the pro was a good lad. Never ate at the club but had a pint after the game. All very friendly.
Excellent winter course
Despite a cold snap, the course was open. Front 9 all Temporary Greens due to frost. Green staff had back nine back onto proper greens by the time we hit the 10th. Our 3 ball really enjoyed the course despite this. Thankfully the 11th hole was on the proper green as one of our party hit a fantastic hole in one.
Unfortunately the clubhouse was closed so we had to drive elsewhere for lunch and celebration drink. This was the one downside of our outing, but understandable as it was a Monday in the depths of winter.
Looking forward to my next round when weather improves.
Kirkistown Golf course
This was the first time playing Kirkistown. The course is links and the greens were really fast. I would really recommend this course as it’s a real test of golf a couple of par 4 played like par 5. Would highly recommend the food once you’ve finished your round
rare to play with no wind!
Played before in strong winds, which is not unusual on a links course. Got lucky today with virtually no wind at all, making a cold day in November feel beautiful to play in.
Course very quiet. In beautiful condition as you would expect here and a pleasure to play, given I usually play parkland course which can be very wet at this time of year. Only one tee mat over 18 holes which is a pleasure to see (hate tee mats). Fariway was great as expected. A little run could be had. Greens were running true and at a decent pace for November.
I only wished they would reduce their price to attract a few more golfers. I saw very few on the course that day. Such a shame to see such a good course not being used more. I would not pay the price they charge (we paid nothing as we used the AG free round voucher).
This course plays very difficult in the wind, but with no wind it was very fair. Good golf was rewarded. Cracking course in lovely condition and a pleasure to play. Would play it every day if the price was more competitive.
Links at its finest
Vg course with good variety of holes, need to be very careful off the tee, greens in great condition, worth a visit.
Lovely members- beware the visitors!
Our first visit to this club and the reception in the pro shop and the clubhouse was extremely friendly. The course presents a true links challenge, particularly when the wind is blowing, with elevated greens and tees providing excellent seaside views. The course is fairly compact, meaning that there are no long walks between green and tee, but the downside of this is that balls struck from elevated tees in windy conditions can stray onto adjoining greens and fairways. Members know where to exercise caution, but visitors (of which there are many on seaside courses like this) don't. The people behind us drove through us on a couple of occasions (our 3 hour 15 minute two-ball round was hardly slow) and narrowly missed us while on the tee. Not the club's fault, but maybe something for them to think about when welcoming visitors in the future. We'd definitely recommend this course, though we might bring hard hats next time!
Shockingly good
Course was in excellent condition for this time of year. Solid fairways, hard fast greens and thankfully the rough was pretty forgiving. Would love to play again and am dreading playing my own boggy parkland course again.
Fantastic course
This is the 3rd time I've played at Kirkistown and it always lives up to expectation. Course was in fantastic condition for the 2nd Jan. Got it on a good day as was little to no wind so was not too difficult. Have played before when blowing a gale and it is a completely different beast. Can't wait to play again! Staff were brilliant as well, very friendly and welcoming. Great putting green and chipping area.
Worth the drive
A jem of a course.
Anyone thinking of playing here should definitely give it a go. Links golf at its best .
The course uses the unique features (Hills) to give you some incredible holes and views.
I will definitely play again
Great course and great club
First time playing Kirkistown and the course was in great condition. Fairways played beautifully and greens were excellent, challenging at times but also very rewarding if you take on the brave shot. 10/10 would play again
kirkistown golf course
had a really great day at the course ,greens where in great condition and a nice pace .the rough is not a place to be, so keep it on the fairways .you need to be brave at some of the holes and dont be afraid to try a chip and run onto the greens , stay out of the bunkers they are deep.will look forward to another round here again, value for money was excellent.
18 carat Links
Played at start of Feb when most other courses were closed due to adverse weather , truly remarkable that the course and greens were so dry .Staff were so welcoming and friendly, food in clubhouse was superb, all in all a GR8 day .THANKS TO ALL
