Crescent Pointe Golf Club
About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Give it a try
I think it is well known that Crescent Pointe had deteriorated over the years but under new ownership it appears to be making a comeback. Improvements were evident in the overall course condition, which, although not perfect was certainly playable. Greens were not fast but were filled in and ran true. The teeing ground was not great but hey, you get to tee the ball up! A member told me there are plans to sod all the tee decks. I was surprised that there were no balls available for the range. Apparently the ‘picker’ hadn’t been out but I managed to scrounge enough balls from the chipping area to get in a decent warm up. Overall it was a good experience and I’d definitely play Crescent Pointe again.
Course in Poor Shape
Course in poor shape. Many tees and fairways in poor shape. No grass on them
Greens were good and fast
Supposedly under new management. They have a lot of work
Took 51/2 hrs to play by 4 experienced golfers. Marshall on the course did not move slow players along.
Will not go back.
GolfNow stole my money
Searched for Charleston golf courses. This was listed and we booked it only to find it was 2 hours away. We couldn’t have made the tee time sono called the course to cancel. They told me to call GolfNow. GolfNow has no way to get a refund for this scenario. Won’t ever use GolfNow again.
Great test of golf
Everything was very good a lot of work has been done to course this year and it shows ..it will look even better in a few months. Staff were also great.
Fast Round
I played as a single and was able to play 18 in 2.5 hours because 4 groups let me play through. Some challenging holes with plenty of water hazards. Fair course and greens. Helps to have played it before.
Much better condition compared to the last time. You can see all the work that has been done and more on the way. Very enjoyable day.
Sister Getaway
My sister and I were visiting from Texas and Illinois. We were greeted and assisted by Rich and Gary, and there were true gentlemen. The course was remarkably beautiful, and Amy took care of us at the bar with our food and drinks. This was southern hospitality at its finest and we were pleased. We will be back with our families for the summer.
Dying embers
Amazing layout destroyed by poor maintenance. I would be surprised if they have fertilized or put weed killer on the course in 5 or more years. Bunkers washed out, greens very rough, trash cans haven't been emptied in days.
Having played courses in HH for 20 years, someone needs to write a book about the death of golf in Hilton Head as so many once great courses have fallen on rough times like this one. Still they somehow justified $75+ fees :-(
Conditions were not great
Conditions were not great. Every tee box was covered with sand.
Nice day for golfing
Beautiful day. Greens were in great shape. Starter was very friendly
Arnie’s place
The layout is true Arnold Palmer! The tee boxes and fairways need some work. The greens are excellent. You need more friendly faces in the pro shop and restaurant area. I totally loved the layout.
