Crescent Pointe Golf Club
About
Crescent Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton is Arnold Palmer's only public course in the area. It is conveniently located just a few minutes west of the bridge leaving Hilton Head Island. Opened in 2000, the course has quickly gained a reputation as being one of the Lowcountry's best. Sprawling across a lush landscape blanketed with century-old oaks and towering pines, the layout is as scenic as it is challenging. While the generous fairways may be player friendly, the difficult approaches to the elevated, well bunkered greens are anything but. The large, pristine white sand bunkers were designed in true Palmer-style, closely following the natural undulations of the land. The gently rolling terrain is unique for the area. Crescent Pointe Golf Club's elevation changes aren't dramatic but they do provide some subtle, but tricky undulations in the greens that make it hard to find a flat lie.

Tough course
Course is not in good condition. But it’s obvious that it’s challenging and could be really nice with some TLC. It was cart path only so that only made it even more difficult.
Course needs some work
Very friendly staff greeted us. Tee time was exact But the corse needs a big improvement
Now writing this during the first week in February and realize that things will naturally improve
Hope to play again there in a few weeks to see the improvement
1st round of the New Year 2024
No grand illusions about my play considering it was my first round of the year , 2024 nor the course conditions considering the time of year . The tee boxes were disorganized and in fair condition. However, the greens rolled true. The staff were very friendly & accommodating. Overall, Crescent Point provided good value for money for this particular area.
What a difference a day makes
The last time I played this course, about 2 years ago, it was sadly in need of some care. This time most holes were in good shape. Keep it up!
Good weather golf
Nice weather golf.. course is OK.Tees are pretty poor shape and the upkeep is lacking. About 8 years ago the course was in way better shape. But hopefully new company has good plans!!
Winter conditions
Very little grass in fairways and greens.love the layout but you had to hit off bareground in fairways and greens were not holding shots due to sparse grass on greens
A Nice Round
Crescent used to be one one cf my favorites in the area; a must play when I visited. @5 years ago conditions deteriorated. I went back this trip and was pleasantly surprised. Greens were good and fairways decent for the most part. The layout and scenery still top notch. Tee boxes need work. Given Hot Deal price and speed of play I'd gladly come back. The staff was very nice.
Could be the best course in the Lowcountry
Played for the first time in 2 years. The lady in the pro-shop was very helpful and nice. Cart guy had my bag on cart when I came out of pro shop.
You can see that new management have put money into the course.
Still needs love but I was pleasantly surprised. Tee boxes were poor. Fairways okay but you have to expect that in January. To be fair we’ve had a cold wet winter. Greens were good. Ball rolled really well. Bunkers were in very good shape.
Overall we were very satisfied. I believe it’s the best layout of any of the public course in Bluffton/Hilton Head area.
I hope the new owners keep on pushing forward with improvements. If they do you’ll have lots of locals wanting to play. Well done to all

Progress showing by new owners
Used to play Crescent and sister, Eagle Pointe, every year. Crescent remains an excellent layout with some interesting and challenging holes - as good as most courses down here. But about 8-10 years ago both courses started to show significant neglect [ownership change?] so I stopped coming. Learned that both are under new ownership as of last summer/spring, so decided to try again. Things are looking up!
Now it will take a while to recover the greens, tee boxes, and some other soggy areas that might need a drainage update, but you can tell the new owner[s] are paying attention. It's the little things: clean water in buckets on the driving range, a starter on the first tee to keep things organized, soap and paper towels in the dispensers in the men's locker room. Now this might seem like some piddly stuff, i.e., what about the course? But again, the course will take time to get back in shape -- we're not in growing season now in January anyway. But that those small items are being kept up tells me somebody is keeping an eye on the place. And I don't want to scare anyone off, the course is playable as is, but there's some rough spots throughout. You can see where the work to be done is marked off [some closed tee boxes], GUR in various spots, some CPO on couple par 4's that need to drain better.
Lastly, the course work has begun; 18 green complex completely redone and looked great. So considering the price -- I paid $40 on golfnow for an 11:00 am tee time -- this course is definitely back in my rotation during my 10 week winter in HHI. I play the three Sea Pines courses [yup, Harbour Town] and Hilton Head National. Expect it to get better over the next year or two. Will try Eagle Pointe later in the week and report on that next.

A little rough
Tee boxes were all pretty rough conditions. Mostly no grass and hard mud. Possibly going thru mid season repair. Greens were just ok. Fairways were definitely off season renovations.
However, the green fees were adequate due to conditions.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our golf course. We apologize for the rough conditions of the tee boxes and fairways, as well as the average quality of the greens. We appreciate your understanding of the current state of the course and hope to provide a better experience for you in the future.

Course was in great condition
I have played the course many times and was surprised to find it in the good condition that it was in after a couple days of rain. Some greens could benefit form over seeding. Number 16, which I believe was redone a couple years ago, is again in need of some TLC. But overall, the course proved to bee an excellent value.
