Tight, tricky and gimmicky
Very tight fairways, and lots of mounding around green complexes. That's normally OK, but far too many approach shots have no "bail-out" areas. The teeing areas were rough at best, and the grass was far too tall. The fairways were very thin and hard, giving the player a near-hardpan lie from the middle of the fairway, despite lots of rain recently. The fairways should have been rich and lush, given the recent rains. The greens rolled true, and at a pretty fast pace, but they were thin, too. The parking lot is unpaved, the clubhouse is a trailer, and the driving range is a dump.
I suggest you stop at Walmart on the way to the course and pick up a 36-pack of Top-Flite x-outs to play here, as you will lose balls.
Odd routing on several holes, too.
This is a $20 course, at best.
great golf course
good course, will play again when grass start to grow. the fairways need to have more grass.
BAD CLUBHOUSE..... CHALLENGING COURSE
My first impression when driving up to this course was that I made a mistake by booking a tee time here.... The clubhouse is the first thing you see and it is probably the worst clubhouse I've ever seen. It's just a double wide mobile home gutted and turned into a makeshift clubhouse. The driving range was in terrible shape, and the gnats were even worse! We bought some bug spray from inside and had to bathe in it to only slow the gnats down a little. With a sour taste in our mouths from the clubhouse and driving range, we finally hit the course. The course was actually in great shape and really deserves a better clubhouse and driving range than it has. Course is VERY challenging with tons if narrow fairways and lots of water on almost every hole. We had a great time on the course!
Nice course
nice course. It has some challenging holes and some nice easy holes...a good mix to make a fun day. Our twosome played in a little over 3 hours on a beautiful thursday. The staff is very nice and the cost was only $12 including cart, thanks to Golf.com. The greens are in very good shape
Fun and challenging course
We were a bit uncertain of what we were getting ourselves into when we arrived, but this course really was nice. There is a lot of water and errant shots will be penalized. Fun course with an interesting layout.
SHORT BUT VERY TIGHT, NOT FOR AVERAGE GOLFER
IF YOU ARE LESS THAN 10 HANDICAP, YOU WILL TEAR THIS COURSE A NEW ONE, BUT OTHERWISE, GO ELSEWHERE FOR MORE OPEN SPACES. YOU CANNOT MISS A SHOT HERE. THEY DO HAVE A NICE PAMPHLET DETAILING EACH HOLE, THOUGH, THAT ONE DOES NOT FIND AT THE AVERAGE PUBLIC COURSE
Great time
I have always enjoy playing at Sterling Links golf course. The people are friendly and they make you feel that they want you there. The course is in good shape, but a few low areas made it a little wet in places. I will play it and recommend it to my friends.
Good value
Course was in good condition. Challenging design made it fun to play.
Nice layout but wet conditions
I've played this course twice since October and despite little rainfall, the course was too wet to play one time and should have been cart path only the other time. There were no restictions either time.
Extremely fast greens!!
This course is in very good shape and the price was VERY nice thanks to golfnow.com... I only paid $12 for 18 holes w/ cart... For $12, you can't really complain about anything, BUT since this is a review, I would say that they need to replace the golf carts (they are old), and place yardage markers on the fairways... Will def go back for those prices...
Good new course in the area
This course is not very long, but the amount of water on the course will make you think about club selection and how to play shots. The worker in the pro shop was extremely friendly. He gave me a basic layout of the course when he discovered it was my first time there. He really went out of his way to provide helpful advice and I felt welcome. Thanks to golfnow, I was able to play at an incredible rate. I live in the Richmond Hill area and I will definitely plan to frequent this golf course.
Great Course
This a challenging course & very well kept. The greens are very quick.
True greens
Course had very few ball wahers at tees. No GPS. None of the sprinkler heads were marked for yards to green. You had to pace it off. No apron on greens.
Greens were in good shape and fairways were decent. Nice layout - For $17 it was a very good value.
Very nice layout of course.
Staff is freindly. The course condition is great, greens are nice. Fairways are kept very well.
