IMG Academy is a fun place to play, and they've recently made good improvements to the golf course.
New tee boxes and repaired greens make it much nicer than it had been over the past few years. Great practice area, especially the chipping/short range.
Fast pace of play. Not the toughest golf course, but it's interesting and fun.
"No range balls after the round"
I thought the course was fair. Not too challenging and not too much to the greens. I teed off at 7:15. There is absolutely no reason that the round should have taken over 3 hours. I played the front 9 in 1 hour and came to a standstill on hole #15.
Since I tee'd off at 7:20 there was very little time to hit the complementary range ball prior to my round. After 18 I wanted to hit a few wedges to work on my short game. As I was hitting some balls, the ranger told me I needed to leave since I had already played. In all my years of playing I have never been told such a thing. That experience alone is enough so that I will not be returning to IMG.
Enjoyed the golf course, you can see they are doing some work on the fairways, but greens are very good.
Great value in the winter season. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Complimentary practice balls before the round, nice short game facility makes for a good warm up. Good hot dogs at halfway house!
Fun and challenging layout
This is my second time playing IMG. I really like the layout there are challenging tee shoots and you do need to play some target golf. The greens are mostly flat so once you are on it gets a little easier. the greens were in great shape. the fairways were a little dried out but that is to be expected in late July in Florida. overall good experience and I will be going back.
Good greens, but that's it...
Greens were in good condition but fairways and tees were in terriible shape due to the lack of rain. The greens saved the round. The rest was muni-grade, at best.
Hot day and slow play
The course is a nice layout and the greens were just fine. The fairways need water but around the greens is good. Unfortunately there are no rangers to keep people moving and we had a foursome in front of us that just did not care to keep up the pace of play. So we had a 5 1/2 hour round in 94 degree heat that took the fun out of the day.
Course had great greens.course well marked. Could use more water access.
Meet Nick !
This is a fun course all year and very reasonably priced. It's summer and the fairways were burnt badly in some areas. The greens however were really nice for this time of year. There was only a few guys playing after 12 and our foursome had the course to ourselves. Hanging out at the first tee was Nick Bollettieri who had just finished playing 27 holes, PLAYING BY HIS SELF! Unbeleivably nice guy. Saw him on the course again later. It was like 91 degrees and 100% humidity. Staff was great, even put ice water in the carts.
A Big Surprise.
It is apparent that they have stopped watering the tee boxes, fairways and rough. I have never seen these areas in such bad shape. The greens however were spectacular!
I would hate to be a parent of one of the school's students in the golf program spending all that money and have to play on those conditions.
John is telling the truth. The greens are super but once again you get people trying to kill weeds with chemicals in the summer in Florida. If we don't get our summer rain pattern, you can burn up an entire course. The course has gone from a 4* to a 2* in 6 weeks. Hope we get rain soon.
This course has been on my radar for some time and first time playing was a challenge as there are LOTS of bunkers and some hidden water. Greens were rolling quite true and with some speed. I will play a gain.
Greens are great and roll true
Course layout is great. Is a great course to walk with greens and tees close. The greens are what make this course so nice. They are in great shape and roll true. Playing for first time it would have been nice to have GPS which shows the hole layout. Water comes into play without knowing it.
Definitely worth it.
Very pleased with my experience at IMG. They have covered all the bases- no charge for range balls, GPS on cart, free cup of ice, fairways and bunkers average, and greens quite good and the fastest and truest of my 6 day swing through courses in Sarasota/Bradenton.
Decent Track on Golfnow
Got a great deal on this track. About 20 minutes from downtown Sarasota. Course makes you think. Several tees to choose from. Beware of hidden water. A couple of greens had severe damage but not a huge factor. Sand traps very rocky and unkempt. Fairways relatively smooth. Gnats were aggressive. Played with a nice group. I was a single and got paired up with a couple and another single. Well worth the price and drive. Finished the round in 4 hours on a 95 degree day.
Course was in great shape
The greens and fairways were in great especially considering all the rain recently. We played the combo, lent itself to our game.
Not for your average player
course layout is very hard. greens were in great shape. If you want a challenge this is it.
Played here today for the first time. The course was in good condition considering it was only 2 days after a tropical depression that left about 5-8 inches of rain in the Bradenton area. The traps were packed down due to the rain but they were working hard to restore them to playing condition. The greens, tees and fairways were in pretty good shape, some better than others. They had sprayed weed killer around some areas that had gotten out of hand. Overall, I enjoyed the course and would recommend it to others. It was not the most plush course I've ever played but it was nice enough. The only regret is that I did not book online like I should have. They charged me $40 at the course while GolfNow had prices at $28.
worth the price
Nice layout, very scoreable. You'll use all the clubs in your bag. Good pace of play, a few weeds here and there on the fairway and greens rolled true. I'll be back, but will remember to bring the bug spray. Nats drove me crazy.
A must play
Get your bunker game ready. Every hole protected by bunkers. Greens was nice and smooth
Great Value, near Longboat Key
We like playing this course in May. Not busy, not too hot because of a breeze from the Bay and Gulf.
Usually we go two or three times during our annual
Florida vacation on Longboat Key.
