Mount Wolseley
Beautiful course, long and some tough holes. Sand was a bit hard due to wet weather but apart from that the course was very well maintained.
Fantastic course.
Form the moment you turn through the entrance of Mount Wolseley, the place oozes excellence. Ample parking. Well stocked pro-shop. They had a lovely practice area with everything you need, from putting green chipping area too the driving nets. The course itself was amazing and in top condition. Fairways and greens were manicured. The bumkers were very well maintained (although I seen more of them than I would have liked). There's water and trees on most holes with some proper dog leg holes. The two lad's in front of me were motoring along so the pace of play was excellent. 3 1/2 hour round.
The young men in the oro-shop were a credit to the golf club. They went out of there way to help a gentleman while I was there and were very polite (didn't seem put on either).
All in all, this was one of the best courses I have played and most definitely will be back.
Not a good first impression
Will have to visit again when the course is in its prime.
Staff didn't tell us about the coring and sand until we realised it on the first green.
There was less sand in the bunkers than on the green.
Pitch marks all over the greens not repaired and damage marks on green from equipment not repaired properly.
Cutting equipments looked like it was emptied and cleaned on a few greens.
We travelled a good distance to play but were very disappointed with the first impression as the layout and green tiers look brilliant.
Will be back again to see the real Mt. Wolsley!
Great course however had issues but mainly down to the weather
Stunning course but unfortunately chose a bad day for it, would Definitely come back in the summer however big issue was we were never notified about the greens being coded, was next to impossible to putt as the ball bobbled vigorously.
Fairway and rough we’re a little long but the wet week is to blame
As stated above would 100% love to come back over the summer
Brilliant course
Brilliant course very tough but felt the green maintenance could be alot better but overall enjoyed playing this golf course
Course was in great condition except the green were a bit slow but we just had to adapt would definitely play again
Good days golf
Course is in excellent condition. Lovely layout and very well maintained. No excuses!
Another great day at Mount Wolseley
We enjoyed a round in glorious weather, but the course was in really great condition. It was a fair test of golf and the tees allowed for fun and challenge in equal measure. Already looking forward to our next trip back.
Great course
Great course but needs a bit of a revamp.
Flags tore and cheap looking, course itself is in good working order, it’s just lost some of its picturesque glory.
Get new flags, it’s dragging the course down to look like pitch n putt standard
A nice treat
Very nice layout with some really great looking holes,. It’s a nice treat and you can get some nice deals.
On the day the greens were a bit slow and sandy but thats ok as it was midweek in April.
Disappointed
I have long admired and praised Mount Wolseley having played there several times each year. The Coronavirus and associated restrictions resulted in a couple years absence. My return visit was a distinct disappointment. Overlooking the rather unfortunate issue of the fences on the first two holes the course was well below its previous high standards of presentation for which it was well known.
The greens were patchy and bumpy, several bunkers were in poor condition , the grass mowing definition between rough and fairways and greens was poorly defined. This was always a strong feature of this course. There was a general air of reduced attention to detail on this course with litter obvious in several locations, pathways in need of tidying and broken fences.
This is a superbly designed and challenging course, I hope it will soon be restored to its former magnificence.
Terrible
Such a shame. Decent design but terrible condition. Recent rain didn't help but I don't think I've played a course with worse drainage. Overall very poor condition clearly the course isn't a priority for the owners of the hotel. Christy jnr if he was still alive would want to take his name off the course design.
Mt Woslely
Course was great, however greens were fairly sanded only downside to the visit, will come back again during the summer
