About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business.
Located in Callahan, Deerfield Lakes Golf Course is less than 10 miles from the Jacksonville International Airport. Its convenient location also makes it accessible from all of Jacksonville, as well as Amelia Island, and South Georgia. The 18-hole layout is player-friendly, providing a good round for all players despite handicap or skill level.
Deerfield Lakes Golf Course's well-manicured greens are medium in size and the lush, inviting fairways are average width. Although it is a forgiving golf course, water hazards come into play on sixteen holes to add some difficulty. There are also bunkers strategically placed throughout to keep golfers from taking the course too casually.

Nice open course
First time playing this course. The layout is fairly easy, but there are many water hazards that can surprise the first time player.
One of my better scoring courses
Wide open and manageable! Enjoy playing here. It took around 3 1/2 hours and the weather was perfect.
Good learner course
Course is wide open. Some hazards here and there but a bad shot can be a safe shot quickly.
Great shape, friendly staff
Course in overall good shape, greens were excellent and true. Staff was great and very accomodating. I will play here again, and recommend it highly.
Nice course
this course is good for the money. I have played it in the past and I continue to recommend it to friends.
nice course but a swamp when wet
course was nice but had rained the day before and all night we didn't play till afternoon but was cold so never had chance to dry. was great course for the price and will play again when dry
great course
the course was in excellent condition. Excellent value.I can't wait to get back out there.
Straight and not very long
Having played Golf for over 2 years at this course, this was enjoyable, I am planning to start back playing on a regular bases again.
Nice Course.
Harold
deerfield will surprize you
fairways wenre wet due to a lot of rain but were it very good condition..Greens were a bit slow because of the rain but it very good condition...if in the area i would advise you to check the course out....
Hit them straight
I found the course to be in great condition. The greens were in great shape and very fast. The fairways were green and in good shape. The traps were well maintained. The water hazards were many and you need to hit it straight. I lost 5 balls in the water. Some areas of the course were wet and soft but it had rained the night before we played. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great hot dogs!
Great Outing for Granddad and Grandson
The course was in overall good condition. The greens were in very good condition. Fairways and bunkers could use some attention. Good value for the money.
This course is great for walking
Course was very wet from recent rains, so it played long and as it was first nice day in a while. Very crowded so play was slow. Greens in excellent shape. Firm but slow but rolled well. This is a flat and simple lay-out so great for walking. Limited features so not real pleasing to the eye- when it dries out it might be a bit short for long hitters
THOUGHT I WAS IN THE JERSEY PINE BARRENS
MOST NOTABLE FEARTURE WAS THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO BUILDINGS IN SIGHT ON THE COURSE,EXCEPT THE CLUBHOUSE...VERY PEACEFUL.THE RECENT HEAVY RAINS HAVE YET TO FULLY DRAIN, PARTICULARLY AROUND THE GREENS.I WILL RETURN AFTER A LONGER DRY-SPELL.
Awesome Deal!
The first time I booked this course it was just on a whim, now I feel it's the best bang-for-the-buck in the area! For around a buck a hole you are challenged but still have wide fairways (something I still need). I played right after 2 days of rain and there were some low wet areas but the greens were in great shape.
Great value
I played 18 holes for 10 bucks. Outstanding deal. I would not play here for full price.
Good Value
Deerfield Lakes is a fun place to play and a very good value for the rate charged. It's easy to get on and rarely does it take more than 3 1/2 hours to play 18.
great course for the price
Greens are in great shape over all condition of the course is fair
the course is getting better every year
the course is in great shape and the greens are the best i have seen this time of the year.
Worthy $19
I booked a $19 tee time on GolfNow so that I could play a quick round before flying home from JAX. I would describe the whole complex as "tired", from the broken down maintenance equipment strewn around the maintenance barn adjoining the parking lot to the spare, "Tin Cup" pro shop and clubhouse to the condition of the cart and the course. There is lots and lots of deferred maintenance to be done here, but for $19, it was a fair deal. The course is a flat and unimaginative layout. The greens had just been overseeded for the winter and were very slow, perhaps a 4 on the Stimpmeter. I understand the need to overseed, but can anyone explain why there was grass sprouting from the bottom of most of the cups? What does that say about how often they change the hole locations? This course fills a niche as a blue collar place to bang the ball around, but should not be confused with some of the nicer tourist courses around Jacksonville.
