Northwest I’ll be back
Great value for money
Very enjoyable day playing golf
We’ll be back
First time
Really enjoyed my firs time on a links course made better with the good weather and views over the bay
Good time on a good course
Course was in great condition with the rough up and a major challenge! Greens were rolling well and really enjoyed my round - course was quieter at 4pm so was round in under 3 hours easy.
Great test
My 16 year old and I played North West for the first time today. Having received a great welcome from the club pro's sister, off we went. Greens were a little on the slow side but apart from that tee boxes, fairways and greens were in great nick. With rain on the day, the rough was to be avoided. It's a tight track with driver not needed on par 4s under 400 yards. The only confusion we had as first timers was figuring out where the 17 tee box was and the line to take off 17 (other holes on the back 9 were well marked for lines off the tee). The par 3s are tough, especially on front 9: local knowledge would have been a great asset. All in all, a course to return to. Beautiful scenery as the weather improved.
WIND WIND WIND
Played in unbelievable wind maybe 70 mph, course very good condition. It so exposed if it’s windy at all
Perfect links golf
Huge credit to North West Lisfannon green keepers the course was in amazing condition. Well done guys cant wait to come back.
A true links course
I have played this course twice once in the wind and the other on a calm day ,on the first day if you did not keep the ball down you had a job and a have to find it again so I used Only a five iron of the tee for most shots off the back foot and eight irons off the fairways lots off run up shots I thoroughly enjoyed myself and only lost two balls scored in the low nineties Well pleased
The next day a different course not so much wind so could get the big stick out now and again ten shot different score
The course is a real gem ,the par threes very tricky some long par fours and a couple of fives
I would recommend this course providing you can hit straight shots or you will be very tested especially in the wind
Good luck
Challenging course when wind is up.Few interesting par 3 holes
North west
To say that it was enjoyed would be an understatement. It may not be in the top tier of irelands links but its pretty good. For starters the greens are real gd. V clever run offs which makes your 2nd shots n wedge play very interesting. I could only imagine in the summer months they would be fast n true. A couple of quirky par 3'd namely the 8th n 16th. Short n tricky not like some modern links. Tees are nice but i found it confusing around the sixth as to where i was going. I found sone of the par4's a little bland but thats a hard mix to get right.
Scenically this course is majestic and it doesnt get any better. The tide was high when i played and the water was up bezide me. For 10 euro it was fab. As for an earlier review comparing it to ballyliffin. Not quite but it is what it is and the couse management make the most of it. I will be back many times om sure.
