Dunfanaghy Golf Club

We phone up and book this course by the club website we got a 8:20am tee time ,50 euro a player,look on golf now and seen they had a slot 8:10am 18euro a player,glad we got the 18 euro value, the greens we're unplayable..poor form from the club to charge 50euro for those course conditions..

We had reserved a teetime for 8:10am on Sunday morning (having been booked nearly a full week in advance). Went to check-in at the shop, the lady was confused when I said 8.10am, as they had another group booked at the same time, and not members. They got to go first, even though we checked in first and had pre-payed through the app, and our 4 ball had to wait an additional 40mins. Apparently this is a rare occurrence she said, but it wasn’t good enough. So beware booking through here, and if you do call a day or 2 in advance just in case, even though you shouldn’t have to !! Not good enough

Dunfanaghy Golf course is one of those courses that is amazing value for money due to its more remote location. About half of the holes have views of the water and beach. It reminded me of Machrihanish on the tip of the Mull of Kintyre and anyone familiar with that course will know that it's very high praise. The course was in very good condition although my view of the greens was slightly masked by the moisture from the morning dew.

In an attempt to increase the difficulty and interest of the course I watched them carving out a new bunker on the 15th fairway (a very dull hole with nothing notable about it other than a small bunker at the front of the green). I hope they continue to add a few more of these in order to make it more of a challenge on a few of holes.

This course is a true hidden gem, away from big resorts like Ballyliffin and Rosapenna, or Portnoo. However this place is stunning, with its slopey and speedy greens, picture perfect holes running along the coast line and a truely captivating layout. Would recommend anyone who can listen, please visit this course, it’s links heaven

Played Dunfanaghy many times over the years, never fails to tick my box. Classy, old style, natural links course that whilst relatively short, can be tricky depending on the wind. Scenery is second to none with the Atlantic ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. Normally 60 euros for a week day green fee, I only paid 15 euros through Golf Now! Bargain price for an early tee time which had the added advantage of a quick round.
Great place....... Highly recommended.
